PATTAYA:--Early on Saturday Morning, Police based at Na-Jomtien conducted an undercover operation involving a local government officer who is alleged to have impersonated a Police Officer and promised to clear a criminal case in exchange for money.

The target of the operation was Khun Bancha aged 40, a senior official attached to the Plu Ta Luang Administration in Sattahip District. He had claimed to be a Police Lieutenant Colonel to a criminal case suspect and stated he could clear the case for 150,000 Baht. 50,000 Baht had already been paid to him but the suspect became suspicious and contacted the Police who set-up an undercover operation to entrap Khun Bancha who was handed the remaining 100,000 Baht in marked bank notes at an unnamed restaurant in Central Pattaya.

Officers then moved in and arrested the man and minutes later Police Colonel Satien, the Chief of Na-Jomtien Police received a phone-call from a man attempting to clear the case but the Colonel stood his ground and refused and confirmed Khun Bancha would be prosecuted to the full
