Good Guest Houses In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Hi, could I draw upon your combined experience and knowledge to give recommendations on decent guest houses to stay in (B400-B1000 range). I'd prefer to be in the heart of Chiang Mai, so nearish to Tapae gate. I'll be hiring a motorbike so if there is a particularly excellent one a little further a field I don't mind. My first thought was Gap's but as I've stayed there before, I thought I'd see if were any as good or better near by?

I'll be coming next month (so October) I doubt the place will be that busy then as it's a little early for the tourist season.

I do realise this topic has been covered before but the last thread is over two years old.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

how long you plan to stay? If you plan to saty longer, with a 400 - 1000 THB you maybe better to rent a condo!?

Sorry can't remember the name but there is a hotel right there at Tapae gate. It is on the outside of the moat and has a McDonald's on the lower floor.

If you're looking for a small guest house, family run, near Thae Pae gate, then I'd recommend Elegant Lanna. I've stayed there 6 times in the past few years, and it's a nice little place. Light breakfast included. Avoid level 4 as it's warmish there.

It's cheaper by the week, or month, quiet, no discos or karaoke, 5mins walk to The Gate and lots of nice little eating places in the lanes nearby or cross the wooden bridge to the 'old city'.

You'd need to book early, as some guests are almost permanent lodgers!

I'd recommand V&Oh Guesthouse , a guesthouse combined coffee shhop together, It is a nice, quiet guesthouse in the certer of old town (10~15 from Wat Prasingh). And price start from 100 Baht (share bed room) and 450 Baht (Air-con room).

Add: 8/3 Samlan Rd., Soi 6, T. Prasingh

On the map they show it looks like it is walking north from Thai Pa Gate take the second right and justt a short distance. Is that close to Miguel's Mexican Restaurant. North or South of it?

You can try Cool guest house 690 per night, free bicycle, internet on tv.
