Is It Possible To Get An O Visa While Living In Thailand

Recommended Posts

Hi Team

I am here on a Visa on arrival Visa that runs out in 3 weeks

Is it possible to get a Spouse O Visa while still staying in Thailand?

and or is it Possible to get one buy going to the likes of Singapore?

I'm an Australian Citizen and don't want to have to go back to Australia to get a visa

I haven't been back to Aussie for 4 years and don't plan on going back anytime soon

I have been working in other countries in Asia for the last 4 years

Is there a way around this

Cheers

Spouse of a Thai? If yes and you can meet the financial 400k in bank account or 40k per month income and can get this proof and wife together this week to make application for one year stay a change to non immigrant 90 day entry is available for 2,000 baht and then you do the extension 60 days later. But you need at least 11-15 days remaining on stay and will likely have to do the change of status first step in Bangkok.

You can always obtain single entry non immigrant O visa from any Consulate with proof of marriage to Thai and copy of there ID card/home register and currently can obtain multi entry from Savannakhet without financials (or KL if you have proof of 100k in bank account).

With the mentioned documents you can obtain a non immigrant O visa (there is no such thing as a spouse visa). Cost will be 2k for single or 5k for multi entry. But if you intend to extend your stay for marriage and not have to depart country every 90 days only a single entry is required to start that process.

Normal application/photos and payment and show of marriage certificate with copy and copies of her ID card and home register. Have her date/sign all to show relationship is current. You may also want to have a short letter from her if she does not travel with you, asking that the visa be issued. It is normally not asked but in a case of doubt could be the swing vote.

I've been living here for about 4 years but working away 2 thirds of the year

Why don't you fly every 15 month (or so), on the way back from working 2/3 of the year outside Thailand, to KL and get yourself a multiple entry Non O, b/c of the wife? (you have to have the needed papers)

Are you longer in Thailand, than 90 days in one time?

For a extension of stay, you need re-entry permits.

Only a thought!

Yes Im not flying back and forth any more I lost my Job I had

Sorry, I misunderstood this detail.

I thought, you are 'only' a bit longer, than 30 days in Thailand, this time.

Because if you would leave regularly, every now and than, it would be a good option.

I haven't needed a O visa for a long time

I have been working way for 8 weeks Home to Thailand 4 weeks for the last couple of years

So just used Visa on arrival

Hasn't been a problem till now because I lost that job

But now I don't know how long it will be until I'm working away again so I'm getting in early and getting an O visa just to play it safe

We were there early 8am to early

But I got talking with a guy he said he has seen the line away out the gate before

Ok I was 7th in the line in the end People just walk straight in front of you

Reminds me of Indonesia If there is a gap in front of you in Indo people will fill it and push you back

Well we got to window handed over the Documents

He checked it and asked for the original Marriage Certificate Well we didn't have it with us

He asked My wife if we had any Children Yes she said We had here Birth Certificate with us

We got it copied we both signed it and handed it over

all was good

I get my number 007 Number took no more than 5 minutes all up

I just want to add the Daosavanh Resort and Spa Hotel is very good We had a meal there tonight The food was the best Thai Lao food I have had in a long time The Staff at the Hotel are very good My Daughter Loves the Pool Everything is top Notch there AAA+++clap2.gif

and show of marriage certificate with copy

Good that the wife was with you in this case - but marriage certificate (original) is the basic requirement everywhere. That is why you each get an original.

For those looking for the Savannakhet Visa form here is a copy

Paperwork needed

My passport

2 photos

Marriage certificate

Copies of

Marriage certificate

My and my wife’s passport name pages

Wife’s Thai ID card, front and back

Wife’s or your House Book

Just to be safe have original copies and make copies of everything

I also took my Daughters Birth Certificate ( This was handy for us as we had left our Original Marriage Certificate behind)

I signed everything My wife signed hers too

I see most people had their Documents stapled together and some had their Photo's stapled on too

The Visa guy at the window Glued my Photo's to my Visa form

Makes it easier as everything is done from outside a window

and many people milling around

I hope this helps

I did this same thing at Vientienne last week.

I have worked in Thailand for 6+ years and had Non-Immigrant Visa and Work Permit. But that ended recently. So, I went to Immigration at Change Wattana and they told me that I had to provide all documentation plus the cash in a bank account, and the wife all within a week or I would be overstayed. I have the cash but it has not been sitting in my account for 60 + days.

So, the Chang Wattana Immigration official suggested I go out of the country and get a tourist visa, and then return to Immigration when everything was in order. I agreed... and went to Laos.

The kind Immigration official (female) at Vientienne took one look at my request for a double entry 60 day tourist visa and then through my Passport and saw a number of visas that clearly showed I was not a tourist and stated the obvious: " Why are you applying for a Tourist Visa when you are not a Tourist?" I explained the reasoning. She said I should just apply for the Non-Immigrant O visa (based on marriage to a Thai national). So I called the wife in BKK and she arranged all the documents and emailed them to me, I printed them, and submitted the passport the following day. I was given a Non-Immigrant O visa.

Why Bangkok Immigration did not suggest this to me, I will never know. Anyway, it worked out fine.
