Hello,

I remember when I arrived at Suvannabhumi airport last month that the immigration official (female) used

a 30-day stamp instead of a 90-day stamp, which she corrected then and there, and apologized.

Now today I noticed that what she had also done wrong was write non "B" instead of non "O" on the entry stamp.

The lawyer assisting us on applying for a new work permit said I should go to

immigration at Chaeng Wattana and have it corrected.

My questions:

- is this easily done?

- can it only be done at CW?

- do I need to bring with me anything other than passport and departure card?

- can this be done at any time of the day at CW or only in the morning or other time?

- what is it gonna cost me?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!!

Why would it matter? They will always issue a work permit on a non immigrant B entry - not always on a non immigrant O entry.

But yes Chiang Watanna should be able to correct.

@lopburi

It doesnt correspond with the actual visa type in my passport. Perhaps that might give a problem at DOL.

I've been issued a wp on non imm O twice before.

Should add that I have dependents (Thai wife and 2 kids).

Will CW be easy about correcting it?

Thanks for the reply.

Suspect?

Can I mention work permit?

Could always say to them I like everything to be correct, hence the request for correction.

Your thoughts?

Thanks.

Recollect from another post that you are considering changing jobs; just get your new employer to file the paperwork or go in and see Labour (with a Thai Speaker) - Labour will soon let you know if there is any problem (they will require copies of the original visa page and your most recent entry stamp with any WP application) - and for sure they would will give you time to resolve this if they consider it an issue.....

Please note that you can get a Extension of Permission to Stay on the basis of working whilst married to a Thai Spouse just as easily (or as Lopburi points out generally more easily) on a non 'B' stamp rather than on a non 'O'

I had a meeting with my new employer yesterday together with a lawyer, specialised in

work permit application. He advised to first have it corrected because it would raise

an issue.

Re extension of stay / non imm B: I am aware of this but prefer to stay on

non imm O without extension. Considering alll requirements and paperwork involved,

this option is the easiest. Would say all I have to do now with regards to visa

is have the entry stamp corrected.

Would assume all I need to bring with me is my passport, no?

Thanks

Ok done and back.

Had to fill out a form (specifically for correcting visa stamp) and make copies of passport: first page, page with the visa on it,

and page with entry stamp + departure card.

As in my first post, there was already a correction of the stamped date and the official

asked who corrected that. My answer of course the immigration official at Suvannabhumi.

Didn't have to pay any fees.

My expenses were the taxi to and from (total 290 baht).

(Looking at the stamp and all the writing and signatures around it (for the correction of the date), I think had I changed the "B" to an "O" myself,

nobody would have noticed it, but nevermind).

Thanks.

You did the right thing by having it changed at the immigration office. We don't know what data the officer at the airport had to enter in the computer. It might well be that it included the visa type and that he entered non-O in the database but wrote non-B in the arrival stamp. If this is what happened, it was probably good to get it corrected already now, not wait until it gets found out when you apply for your one-year extension of stay. Another member recently posted about the hassle he had with what appeared to be another type of discrepancy between database and and passport entries: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/574773-urgent-marriage-visa-extension-problems/#entry5556059
