Such a rip-off. Many elephants are in some type of captivity and you can bet that the coffee plants are cheap. Buy some, feed it to the elephants and just hose off the excess once nature runs its course. Charge the suckers a ton of money and start laughing.

There's a coffee produced in Vietnam by Trung Nguyên named "Weasel (kopi luwak) coffee". It's simulated using enzymes and no animal is involved. Does anyone know if this coffee is available in the Pattaya/Jomtien area?

Trung Nguyên is a producer and distributor of Kopi luwak (Vietnamese: cà phê chồn) weasel coffee also known as civet coffee, both natural and simulated.

...wait till the indonesians file a copyright suit for infringement of "kopi luwak" !

I wonder what kind of animal shit Birdy coffee comes from.

This is not news! Most of the coffee I have had in Thailand has been expensive and tasted like elephant shit. Generally the coffee has been so bad it would have been better to take my own instant coffee and just pay them for the hot water.coffee1.gif

IMHO, most Thai coffee tastes like it's brewed from elephant dung, with the processing to extract the beans.
