Before you consider this you should get a blood test to see what your own levels are. It maybe a good idea to visit a doctor - there can be other reasons for low sex drive besides low testosterone. It's possible you could cure your problem without resorting to replacement therapy. Once you start your body stops producing the hormone and your balls will shrink away.

Yes get a hormone test. Am not aware that you can buy this in any pharmacy however Bangkok hospital can give you the injection the cost is 9000 baht and it lasts six months.

The downside is if you have any sign no matter how minute of prostate cancer this will dramatically speed up the growth of the cancer so befrore they will give you this you would need a PSA test ( prostate cancer )

My local doctor would not give this injection as he claims it can cause prostate cancer.

You can have a blood test to check hormone level and psa form one blood sample, hope this helps you.

If you have lost your libido at the age of 46 I would urge that you undergo a full medical heath screening. (Health check up)

Whilst undergoing the screening take the opportunity to mention your concern to the Doctor/Nurse. (No need for embarrassment ! They have heard it all before!)

There are many causes of impotence and it is important to determine the cause BEFORE seeking a remedy.

Go here for a comprehensive overview of Male Erectile Dysfunction. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/erectile-dysfunction/DS00162/DSECTION=causes

Please don't embark on a process of self diagnosis and treatment based on advise provided by the resident "expert" in the local bar !

Low testosterone is a fact for everyone over 40-45 yrs of age.

Low sex drive, low energy, bad mood, memory problems..are some of the symptoms.

You should do some online research for side-effects of testosterone supplementation.

I wouldn't rely too much on thai doctors...nuff said.

If you decide to supplement you should also consider testosterone tablets.

They are available in Pharmacies and they are cheap.

All steriods that are tablet form are treated with something that is bad for your lever else they cant pass the stumach. So its not a good idea for hormone replacement because hormone replacement is a long term thing. You would ruin your liver.

Get a full medical check up. It could be low T but it could also indicate other problems like coronary issues.

Of course you should make some lifestyle changes like more exercise, better diet and no alcohol and see how you go .

I am not sure that your first statement is correct. There are normal levels of T for guys 40-45. Of course T levels at that age are not going to be the same as guys in their twenties or even thirties but nonetheless you can still have normal levels of T for your age when you over 40 and not need any T supplementation.

Except for Andriol, which enters directly into the lymphatic system, however it has a very poor availability and it's expensive.

Being bored in an unsatisfying marriage can stifle interest too. There's a very big psychological element to libido.

Yes, you need more than a hormone test. you need a full physical exam (including a prostate check, as testosterone can e=accelerate the growth of prostate cancer if it is already opresent). And to discuss with a doctor familiar with your liver problems whether or not oral testosterone is a safe option, since it does get metabolized by the liver.

Does anyone know what testosterone shots cost in LOS? I am currently on Androgel (SP?) and it's very expense but paid for by insurance. When I get to LOS I'll have to pay for supplements myself.

I understand that there are one month and three month types of injections? Are they available in LOS? Are they prescription?

Does anyone have a clue as to what they cost?

Thanks!

PS If needed, they really do help. They help with weight loss as the body can better convert fat to muscle and bone mass. That's what makes us a "man." It helps with brain function. I'm saying only for those who need it. It don't think it's any magic for someone who doesn't need it. It helps libido for those who need it.

I get tested in US - free/Total with SHBG, etc. and test just below the low benchmark range. PSA is low so no problem there. Doc prescribes a compounded medication of 200mg/gm T. cream now to apply to upper arm and femoral artery on upper legs where I see blood vein through skin, rotating application sites each day but started with 100mg/gm. He never discussed shots with me. I am inconsistent with applying it so not getting the results I could. $90 for a six month supply for me in US.

You can get Nebido 1000 mg. They're about 7500 baht each.

For more info:

That's supposed to be good for about 12 weeks, but a booster shot is recommended at about 6 weeks when first using it.

I don't like the idea really. IMO it's for people with too much money and scared of needles.

do ZMA first. It's Zinc, Magnesium and Vit B6. Eat Paleo low carb and do some working out like kettlebells etc.

Or you need to look at better porno.

Kettlebells? Where can you find those?

I don't think a bit of weight training is going to help an older person with low testosterone production. The low testosterone makes it hard to train and gain any muscle at all.

Perhaps it's a good idea for a young bloke with a problem.

Scared of needles? Is there something you can inject yourself for less?

I'm 66, have had all of the tests in the US and my testosterone was off the charts low. I have no prostate enlargement or any other issue. I've been taking it for 9 months and it's a miracle for me. It allows me to burn fat and convert it to muscle and bone strength and lose weight. It sharpens my brain. It greatly increases libido.

When on my diet, I tried not using T for 2 weeks to see the change. I could no longer diet. My body wouldn't make up for the lost calories by converting fat to energy. Instead of losing weight, I got sick - weak mind, hungry, lethargic... I had to have a blast of fat and carbs every day like a PBJ and of course I lost no weight. With the T supplement, the diet is fine and I feel good and lose about 1 pound per week.

When I move to LOS next year I'll need it, and I'll have to pay for it myself of course. Right now the Androgel costs $600US per month!! but I only pay a $30 copay.

I will need a way, and the best way, to replace it. Any help appreciated. :)

I'm referring to Nebido. It's 7500 baht for 1000mg and only needs to be injected every 12 weeks, so good for people who don't like needles as the injections are infrequent... and compare the price to say Testoviron Depot, which costs about 150 baht per 250mg. That's 600 baht per 1000mg compared to 7500 baht per 1000 grams (Nebido).

Thank you. Is the Testoviron Depot shot good for three months or just one? I don't mind needles, but an appointment every month...

All I can tell you is that according to the drug information provided by the manufacturer of Testoviron Depot it's a 3 weekly injection. I think that's the standard frequency and what you can expect from doctors. Of course in Thailand anything goes - "up to you" as they say.

The whole idea of TRT is to put you into around the middle of the normal lab range. That's what doctors back at home aim for.
