Why does every thread have to descend into some anti-Thaksin vitriol?

Perhaps because he's a vile scumbag who seems to be intent on destroying the country?

...and...???

That is so different from the other vile scumbags, who do exactly the same?

And that is why he has to be mentioned on every thread from this to the Thai- cooking forum???

Now listen here! The PPP caused irreparable damage to the reputation of Thai cuisine when its leader cooked pork leg in Coca Cola on live TV

Best news I have read all day. Good for this guy the stupid motorcades in this country are ridiculous. Everyone who thinks they are someone can get a motorcade. I have been on the highway several times where the motorcycles almost cause an accident trying to block traffic on a highway!!

The right to "lawful" protest is a fundamental aspect in democracies. Looks like this guy really got pinged for a bunch of traffic and nuisance offences. It's not like they have locked him up and thrown the key away. I would like to have seen what penalty would have been meted out in DRK. A sharp in the back of head I would expect.

I certainly hope we are not comparing this country to some of those. This forum would not be allowed for a start.

No I am not comparing it yet.

But look at the collected speeches and doings from Thaksin.

Major vote buying

telling that democracy is not his goal

Opening the door to massive vote fraud

running a single party election

speaking about a single party system

telling that cities that don't vote for him don't get money

establish "red" cities.

That is not North Korea but it is the way that leads in that direction.

No fan of PT but this guy sounds unstable or at the least very angry. He got off relativly lightly this time (though losing his licence for 6 months will hurt) because he had no previous record. Now he's been arrested on new charges that won't apply next time round. His disillusionment could be very dangerous if others who feel the same follow his lead v

It was never about compensating people, it was a cheap publicity move which was flawed because once you start paying some people money you have to pay everyone or face the jealousy backlash.

PTP is built on lies from Day One, starting with the shocking electoral claims that Yingluck & her oligarchical crime family are somehow representatives of the working class, and nosediving from there with every further shameless lie she has spouted. And like always happens when you lie to people constantly, they eventually get angry and come looking for you.

That said, I don't condone dangerous driving, its just that it shows the desperation and disenchantment of working class Thais when faced with the schemery and callousness displayed by this distant & uncaring corporate crime family.

coffee1.gif They should have done both...collected the 5k baht up frong and still thrown his Arse in the joint!

So now in their little taxi minds they think they are just going to have to pay a fine, and no jail time..

HUGE mistake!!!coffee1.gif

I wonder if he would have got off so lightly if he was a yellow shirt supporter. Survival might have even been a problem.

Driving the wrong way against oncoming traffic? He should have used the argument 'if motorcycles can do it, why can't taxis?'.

Yep. The 6 Months may give him time to reflect. He is lucky he didn't carry out his threat on torching the taxi. Would have taken him a while to save up for a new one, or pay the owner off. There must have been some semblance of an "off switch" which I guess is something.

Charged, found guilty and sentenced in a single day.

But, but, but ... what about Abhisit ? At least two attacks in 2009

April 7th, 2009, Pattaya

"Anti-government demonstrators in Thailand have smashed the window of a car carrying the country's Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva."

http://news.bbc.co.u...fic/7987722.stm

April 12th, 2009, Bangkok

"Thailand's prime minister narrowly escaped a savage attack and rioting erupted in Bangkok as protesters commandeered public buses and swarmed triumphantly over military vehicles in unchecked defiance after the government declared a state of emergency."

http://www.foxnews.c...,514676,00.html

I think I've got it figured out. One attack was obviously just plain criminal and the other attack motivated by a democratic desire for peaceful political change rolleyes.gif

Why weren't all the taxis in the red riots in 2010 charged under the 1979 Land Traffic Act as well? Selective law and due process - only when it suits? As is often stated - the law is an ass - none more so than in Thailand.

Indeed. And staggering the speed in which "justice" can work when the right people want it to.

Seven posts in support of a nutter driving into a motorcade.

Says it all I suppose............

Rather than many posts defending a nutter in Dubai for ramming into the country and nigh on destroying it (that of course is a work in progress)

That is what is going on here and unfortunately the people that see it are powerless to do anything, it's a product of a country were people can be bought for 500baht and other stuff without realising they are being shafted

When the cost to buy a person is 500 bt, and the fine for protesting is 5000 bt... why not jut buy 10 people?

Excellent. Good for him. Now we just need another few million to protest

I take it that you don't agree with democracy.

Protesting is NOT democratic now?

You mean protesting to get rid of a democratically elected government? So protesters should be have more of a say than voters?

Why does every thread have to descend into some anti-Thaksin vitriol?

Because he is the root of all current evil in Thailand. And the sooner people stop pandering to and idolizing this two-bit fool and think for themselves, the sooner the country may be able to move forward.

There... I said it.

The real news in this story is that the PM's motorcade was near Government House, a rare event in the last year and more.

I wait in suspense for further revelations - did the PM actually attend parliament?

The cab-driver is obviously misguided and ill-informed. Has nobody told him that only red shirts are entitled to compensation arising from the 2010 red shirt riots?

I've gone past Government House myself so I wouldn't criticise the PM. Maybe she was sightseeing like myself.

On a more serious note, it's normal that some people are upset with what they have and get in life. This only becomes serious if there are many who feel the way he does. I don't if that's the case but perhaps someone else does.

Her driver was obviously new to the job, and forgot to program his SatNav correctly. "Choose routes avoiding places of work"

You mean a bought government.OH and your last sentence. The protesters certainly had their say in 2010.
