Any outlets in BKK? Chatujak? hmm, probably, eh. What section.?

Prices and quality?

oh, any websites of stores that sell them?

So far I found a khaen for B3000, but won't be going to NE.

Not sure about JJ, you're likely to get crap tourist-quality rather than instruments actually good for creating music.

I've seen traditional instrument shops in the sois around Charoen Khrung on the way into Yaowarat.

Also, if you enquire at your local school they should be able to put you in touch with teachers of the instruments, and of course they'll know.

yes, if you take the #1 bus from there heading north (to your right facing the river, toward McD's @ Robinson Bang Rak, after a couple km of twists and turns keep your eyes open and when you see more retail shops than metalworking shops get out, maybe half-way to Yaowarat.

If you don't have an example of what you're looking for (maybe a picture would do?) nor speak Thai, take one with you to translate.

But I'd wait a bit, most likely with more specific/helpful information will come along in the next day or two.

BTW they just delivered the current Yellow Pages to my house, get a Thai to help you look through that. I believe the English-language version comes out much later than the Thai one, but last year's edition should be available, I used to go down to the main TOT office to pick one up, that might be more time-efficient, calling around rather than walking the streets.

[for those who Find this on Search] Okay, I found a seller in Chatujak, Khaen 600 Bhat, Vuts 150b? Bought some, but I didn't like the electric tape construction, so To try to find a better one,Tried your suggestion for China Town, except took the Water Ferry and walked about six blocks. The same product for 1000B! so, except for the Adventure, it was a waste of time. Two, regular, music shops, in the area assured me there's only 1 store selling khaens in Chinatown.
[[Now, that I've looked closely at those giving khaen lessons on Youtube, I can see that I have the same as some of them, same construction. so, it seems to work ok.!]] Someone told me the better quality, few thou Bhat ones are at Central Plaza Pinklao, but never could check that out,,, next time,,, meaning prolly, next Life 555

>>> in Chatjak, from the Clock Tower, go SE until you get to the outer Path, right around there is the Khaen and Vot shop. They have bamboo whistles, drums and all.
