Cross-border crystal meth suspects arrested; order made via Facebook

NARATHIWAT, Nov 1 - Two Thai women were arrested as part of an international gang smuggling 5kg of crystal methamphetamine pills to Malaysia, estimated to be worth Bt50 million.

Narathiwat governor Apinan Suethanuwong and other local authorities identified two suspects, Arisara Tesaka, 30, and Anong Raksalerd, 35, as being from Bangkok and Chonburi respectively.

The drug cache was seized after being found hidden in special compartments of their luggage.

The two suspects said they had been hired by Ms Janda, whose surname they didn’t know, to smuggle the drug to Narathiwat to pass on to Mr Kelvin, surname unidentified, said to be a big dealer in Malaysia.

They said orders were placed between Ms Janda and Mr Kelvin through the Facebook social media.

Narathiwat authorities cooperated with Malaysia’s narcotics control unit leading to the arrest of Mr Kelvin. (MCOT online news)

Facebook and google and numerous other websites right under are noses are facing numerous charges of invasion of privacy online. I dont like meth addicts but I also think people should not have private messages being opened and analyzed by anyone with a gun and badge..

The FBI and CIA made the point they have never had it so easy to cull data when people put up friends, connections, current photos, blog their activities etc ., saving huge amounts of time and resources. Anyone stupid enough to deal drugs or anything else on FB simply don't have enough brains to blow their noses. But one question - why does the photo have to include 9 Thai 'officials'? 5Kgs - hardly worth mentioning and a coupe of bar/farm girls?

NARATHIWAT: -- Two Thai women were arrested in Narathiwat while trying to smuggle five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine "ice" through the Sungai Kolok border crossing, police said yesterday.

Arisara Thesaka, 30, and Anong Raksalert, 35, were hired through Facebook by a Nigerian man with the profile name of Kelvin Osondu. They were to be paid Bt150,000 to deliver the drugs to the man in Malaysia. Police said the drugs had a street value of Bt50 million.

Malaysian police arrested two other women from the same drug network and were now hunting for Osondu.

Meanwhile in Bangkok, police on Wednesday arrested Nigerian national Sinoso Charles Okokao, 28, and his Thai wife Unnada Pitak, 30, in Bang Kapi district. Police say the couple were selling "diamond-grade ice" smuggled from Africa to buyers in Chiang Mai and Bangkok for Bt5,000 per gram. Another Thai woman, Nujaree Inklom, had been hired to deliver the drugs, police said. She was arrested in a sting operation in September, which led to the arrest of the couple.

Had my identity phished/hacked 2 weeks ago on F/B. Friends were getting emails from me asking to be friends and then asking for their phone numbers. A wise friend advised me, thinking he already has me as his friend and he knows my phone number. I posted this on F/B and then a dozen friends replied telling me that they were getting the same messages. I am sure I know the name of the fellow and reported this to F/B. I changed my password. Just for the record 600,000 F/B accounts are hacked daily.

This guy will go to all my friends and then to their friends etc....His message being that you had won something in a lottery, or either won the right to apply for a U.S. visa, something along those lines.

People are selling drugs on Craig_______. daily advertising oxyicet and oxycontin as well as other things.

A guy I met in Bangok was busted selling fake viagra from Cambodia to an undercover cop in Bangkok using one of these websites. The cop who drives a big motorcycle demanded 60,000 Baht and told him if someone bought it and died he would be charged with manslaughter.

I disagree. It's my belief that law enforcement agencies should have the ability to use any methods they choose to stop crime being committed. Everyday people won't be bothered by them. They need information before they go looking and the targets are then specific.
