Nam Maeping Restaurant-Gone?

Featured Replies

Earlier this evening decided to do our monthly pilgrimage across the city for some proper Thai food;(at the Nam MaePing) only to be so disappointed on arrival to find it shut; sign gone, outside plants gone and everything inside gone..

I can only summise they couldnt handle the rent v number of customers in that location and have found somewhere more economical.

anyone have any thoughts?

Was shut the last two times I've been. They do take a few days off from time to time, but if the sign is down and tables gone, its not a good sign. sad.png I had wondered how it was working financially when it was nearly as cheap as a street side food cart.

Strange. It was only about 5 days ago when we had dinner there and the owners didn't say a word to us about closing. We normally dine there about once a week so they know us. Last night coming home as we drove by I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the sign was down or something -- something didn't seem right.

That is really disappointing. Website which was up only a few days ago is also gone.sad.png

I went the same day I went to get those pieces of cloth you suggested to me. Was open and reasonably good... one weird thing was the tripled my order on one thing but didn't charge me extra (for some fish). Maybe I went on one of the last days! Sucks because that place is/was awesome.

Also when I went they told me they were out of pork and beef for the Khao Soi... so that isn't a good sign either.

That's funny because when we were there just a few days ago they gave us an extra order of one thing and didn't charge us either. That hadn't happened before.

Clearing out the fridge....

this is bad news to me, have often sent friends there to get a taste of northern....... now where to go?

As a rule aswell, if you were a business just relocating, you would spend 5 minutes to write a small notice, tie it on the fence or the gate to tell regulars where they are going.

What now for that building, its got the ambience already...wont be long before its snapped up

Website is already for sale. They are history. Funny how they never said a word about closing on what was obviously their last 2-3 days open.

So where was this place you all know ? Wonder why i never heard of it. Or maybe I did without knowing the name ? And so what's going to be the new go-to substitute for costs n quality for you guys ?

I think the upmarket noodle shop just down from them probably stole a lot of their business, too bad realy.
