Making Marriage Legal

Featured Replies

Good morning...

My son only has had the ceremony but not made the marriage legal yet..

To make marriage legal does there have to be x amount of money in the back each month.. Only his wife works, although he is in uk working at mo due back next week... As he has been sending money back when he comes back he will have very little..

Regards

Sharon

There is no financial requirement to get married. He needs to get an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry from the embassy in Bangkok, have it translated and certified at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then go with his wife to be to the local Amphur office and get married. There are lots of threads about this on here.

They just go to the local Amphur with their documents, they will register the marriage, if no queue takes about 10 minutes, can't remember the fee but it's peanuts.

The amount of money in the bank you refer to may have more to do with his visa application ?

He has to get an affirmation of freedom to marry letter from his embassy. On that form he must also state his income and job.

There is no requirement for a minimum income, nor is there a requirement to have a job and sent money every month to his bank in Thailand.
