My local Starbucks in Silom started Xmas today with trees, decorations and the music - and it will be the same awful songs repeated over and over again for the next six weeks!. One of the things I used to love about Thailand was being able to escape the rampant commercialism that Xma in the west has become.

*sigh* ... started here (in Australia) after the Footy finals week-end.

First week in October.

I do find it amusing seeing the girls wearing the Santa hats in the likes of TESCO ... ohmy.png

Ah yes, lamenting “rampant commercialism” while in a Starbucks, in a city where the only thing not sporting advertisements are soi dogs (patent pending), and then writing about it on a forum where, were it to add one more advert it would surely induce strokes in its geriatric members.

Why do I suspect the irony is lost on the OP?

I'm sure the OP has an ad blocker. Surely he has....and probably no TV!

Definitely no Xmas tree.....cheesy.gif

Edit: I only go to Starbucks once a year....for the mince pies....they are tasty. Have you tried them? rolleyes.gif

Point taken....of course writing about commercialism in Starbucks is not really on. It was just the thought of having to listen to the same CD of chronic Xmas songs until the end of the year that irked me - thought I had at least another couple of weeks of normality left.
