February 7, 201313 yr You can do a change of visa status from 30 day stamp in EITHER Bangkok or Pattaya. Be prepared to show proof of your residence though. You'll need to choose one residence to use as your home base for extensions and 90 day reporting purposes. For 800K in the bank, this money will need to be shown in a THAI bank both for the first step, change of visa status, and the second step, the annual retirement extension. For the first step it won't need to be seasoned 60 days; for the second step it will.
February 7, 201313 yr Gents, I was informed by a friend that the Retirement age qualification was being or is increased to 55 years old now !!!!! Is this true? First I have heard of it. Cheers.

Cheers. 100 percent false! Some years ago is was 55. Probably there are still some outdated websites saying that age. Then it was changed to 50. If there is any future change, it is likelier to go even lower, at least that would follow international trends. Edited February 7, 201313 yr by Jingthing
February 7, 201313 yr Thanks Jingthing On a 30 day stamp, go in there soon after entering Thailand. If you wait too long, they may not do it. Better to enter on a tourist visa.
