Most people visit Vientiane in the local area to obtain a two entry tourist visa and cost will be normal 2,000 baht. There is no company involved. You apply in morning and obtain next workday afternoon.

Anyone add to this - a double entry tourist gets a two month stay, should one apply for a months extension (1,900 baht) and then cross the border to return with a further two months and then possibly extend for a further one month here in Thailand or whats the procedure? Thanks in advance

basically that is it, but it will be 60 days and the extension 30 days.

Also you must make the second entry into Thailand before the visa itself expired, or you lose that entry.

bangkok, well i used jacks golf previously but they dont appear to be advertising the double, just the single, i prefer to go with a tour company who can take care of everything, and would prefer to do it at a cambodia border than vientiene if possible. thanks.

Any word about if it is just Vientiane issuing the double tourists at the moment?

also the other thai consulate in laos is almost gauranteed - savenkhet or soemthing is the name.

other places sometime give out doubles but you have to provide extra documentation etc.

the visa run companies you mention do they do everything in the one day ? because if you goto a thai embassy/consulate yourself it takes 2 days to get a new tourist visa.

if you get a double tourist visa you will have to also do an extra border run sometime half way through your stay so maybe getting an easy singles is better for you ?

Just bumped into a friend this morning, she is Portuguese, and she had received a double-entry tourist visa this Monday in Vientiane.

I just called Jacks and they said they are not even issuing single tourist visas (3 months). Just 15 days.

Isn't Jack offering Cambodia, only?

google 'thaivisaservice'

Savannakhet, Laos is a good consulate for it, too.

I've read you can park your butt on the beach in Sihanoukville, Cambodia and get a double-entry tourist visa done for you in a few days. Anyone know if this is still the case? I've heard PP has been a little stupid lately. Last year I did the vientiene run... smooth double-entry. This year I wanted to go somewhere and relax on a beach (Vientiene is....well,... boring) so I'm considering Sihanoukville.

What are the current stipulations for obtaining a double tourist in Vientiane? 2k, visa application, 2 photo, copy of Laos visa on arrival, copy of first page of PP?

yup, i was there 2 weeks ago and only supplied what you listed,

maybe only one photo needed i can't remember,

take plenty of photos you may also need one for the laos visa on arival.

there's a photocopy machine at the consulate and people outside the consulate who can help you but they charge extra .

very easy to go inside and do everything yourself,

only other piece of information you need to take is the name of a hotel in vientiane to write on the application form,

I have a new passport, it will only have the exit stamp from Thai and the Laos visa on arrival in it. Will they ask to see the non-B visa in my previous passport?

Thanks

Consider a trip to the Royal Thai Consulate in Denpasar/Bali.

1. Yes double entry tourist visas are available in the neighboring countries. You get them from the Thai embessy/consulate in that neighboring country. Right now Laos seems to be the choice of many.

2.Whether you personally can get one depends a lot on how many previous Thai visas you have in your passport. With one previous tourist visa....no problem. Anything over 3 back-to-back (consecutive) tourist visas and they will be asking pointed questions about why you are staying in Thailand as a "tourist" for so long. They will be wonering if you are not working in Thailand illegally without a Work Permit. It's very difficult to get 4 back-to-back tourist visas, and beyond that number it's basically impossible.

3. You can do it all yourself by going to that Thai consulate. Just be prepared to wait in queue an fill out forms required. Pay the fee. Normal practice is you apply on the 1st day before noon, and return on the 2nd day after 1 p.m. to pick up your passport with new visa stamped in it.

4. If you want there are visa run companies that will do most of the work for you. Do a Google/Yahoo search on the net on a topic like "Thai visa runs to (name your chosen country here)" and you will get many hits. Pick the one that souns good to you and contact them.

5. There's a company offwering a package deal from a hotel in Savanaket Laos. They supply a room in that hotel for 3 nights and a visa from the Thai consulate there. You just sign the forms basically. The company also transports you and even will meet you at the airport or bus station as you arrive. Of course, you pay a little more for their VIP service. You'll probably see one of the avertsements scrolling on this forum.

Normal double entry tourist visas get you 60 days for each entry with the possibility of a 30 day extension on each 60 day entry...or a total of 180 days. Just pay attention to the expiration date on the visa when issued.

You MUST use both entries before that expiration date....past that date and any unused entries are voided.

Yes, but recently there have been recent reports of Phenom Penh taking 4 days to do a visa.

No problem I guess if you don't mind hanging around a beach in Sihanoukville for a couple of days.

But if you're in a hurry consider the possibility that you may need 4 days in PP versus 2 elsewhere.

If you were NOT in a hurry you could:

1. Fly into PP or take bus there.

2. Check into hotel and sample beer and PP nightlife.

3 Morning go to Thai consulate and turn in passport. Afternoon catch shared taxi. van, or bus to Sihanoukville.

4. Check into hotel and spend two days laying around the beach with "friendly" locals

5. On day 4 bus back to PP in morning....pick up new visa at Thai consulate in afternoon.

6. And back to Thailand,

But as the Thai bargirls say, "Up to YOU".

Is this the formthey use for visa on arrival Laos?

no the one they supply at the border is different, you also have to fill in an arrival card .

i read a post recently that one guy took a filled in application form to try and save time at the border but they wouldn't accept it because it was a slightly different size,

it doesn't take long at the border maybe 5-10 minutes

Just wondering if anyone after having submitted a passport for a tourist visa in Vientiane found out they were denied the next day? At Thai Immigration in bangkok they said that the Thai embassy in Vientiane has your history on computer, so even if you have a new passport they can see how many previous TV's you've had. Any problems?
