hi,

i need a birth cert translated from thai into english, i also need other documents like marriage cert etc translated. i am in uk at minute and the ukba wants all documents translated and certified . i have called a few places in uk and they are quoting ridiculous large amounts of money for 1 document.

is there any one or any offices in thailand ( or uk ) i can send these documents to and get certified copies , it will be cheaper for me and my wife, we cannot afford these prices some companies are quoting.

i can send them to thailand or any office in uk , 1st class.

thanks for any help in advance

PLEASE NOTE : to all those of you who get married or want to make visa applications etc in the future from your home country, please get all your important documents translated in thailand before you return home. and make sure you make a lot of copies of everything like birth certs, marriage certs, house papers etc etc,

if you dont it will cost you a lot of money .

Just a thought, do you have any friends in Thailand that you could send the papers to to get them translated? you are correct they want silly money in the UK.

You only need to email scans of the documents to a translator in Thailand.

They can post the certified copies back to you, get them to email a copy of the translations first for you to check. Cost should be about 100bht per page plus postage.

Note

In the UK a certified copy is only a stamp from the translator saying "I certify this to be a true and accurate translation of this document" with his signature and date on it. Usually in the corner of each page.

tried 3-4 places in uk, cost was roughly 65-80 gbp ( plus vat ) for a sheet, certified copy.

so it pays to get all your paperwork in order and copied / certified in thailand .thumbsup.gif

I used A language lover in Bangkok. 350 baht / page if you give them 2 days or more. If you want overnight, then 700 baht. You email them a clear copy of the birth certificate. Make sure you have the correct english spelling for yourself, spouse or other parent, and child. Ask them to make a clear, color scan of the certified translation and save it as a png file (lossless). then you can convert later to pdf if you need to.

You can print it out yourself; no need for post unless they require an original signature. But a black/white or color photocopy is usually sufficient.

Their passport photo service was excellent also. 150 baht for 6 - 2" x 2" passport photos. I remember 250-500 baht in the states just for 2. And they are coming in handy now as I hop through a few border countries and do visa on arrival.
