I went to get a marriage visa today only to be told that i can only do it with a non immigrant o visa.

Ok that's fair enough, i'll head to Vientiane tomorrow and get one.

I need to fill out this form and just had a couple of questions.

http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/downloads/from/visa_application_form.pdf

Duration of proposed days - Should i put 90 days?

Purpose of visit ?

What's the difference with name and address of local guarantor and one in Thailand?

Many thanks

What kind of visa do you presently have? If you have a Tourist visa or at least 15 days left on a visa exempt entry, you can convert that to a Non-O in Bangkok and extend it for 1 year for marriage IF YOU QUALIFY. You must have either 400000 baht in a Thai bank in your name only or have 40000 baht per month income. When you do the conversion the 400000 baht does not have to be seasoned, but when you extend it must have been in the bank for at least 2 months.

Otherwise you must apply for the visa in a neighboring country, either single or multiple entry.

I was here on a 30 day tourist visa which i got extended by 60 days from immigration because i had my son born here. My 60 days are up tomorrow.

Than you don't have any other option to leave the country and apply for a non-o visa abroad.

Savanakhet, Laos, will issue a multiple non-O. If you can show an income of 40,000 baht a month (can be from abroad) or 400,000 in the bank for 2 months in a bank in Thailand a single will be enough as you can extend after 60 days.

Go to Thai immigration as soon as possible, they should help you. Been dragging our feet a bit haven't we?

I was there today, they told me to go to laos and get a visa

The post isn't asking what to do, just help with a few of the questions

thanks

for single, just say 90 day stay, as reason visit wife and child, just fill in your wife as guarantor (local would be somebody in your home country).

Beware of expecting Thai officials accepting needed paper Work from US Embassy Laos as the Consulate there told me when i went to get mine that it has to come from US Embassy in Thailand or the Thai Government will not accept the Affidavit Of residence etc..

Who is asking anything about the US Embassy anywhere? He is getting a Thai visa from the Thai Consulate in Vientiane. He will need a non immigrant visa to apply for extension of stay inside Thailand.

I suspect you are talking about financial paperwork for extension of stay if using Embassy letter and yes for that it would have to be from a Thailand based Consulate.
