infinity11
After some previous research I got the impression it is best to know who you want to see before hand. Who are the best general practice (and specialist) doctors as far as diagnostics, English, honesty, patience etc? Also knowing exactly how much something is going to cost beforehand, no surprises, is preferable. What approaches work best? seadoo
You could try Dr. Oliver in Soi Day Night - he is one of only a handful of foreign Doctors who have passed the Thai exam to be able to actually practice here in Thailand. He runs a western style Doctors clinic and dispenses medicine from his practice.
guzzi850m2
There is a clinic on Naklua road we used many times, not bad. App 1 km from the roundabout on your right. Sadly enough Bkk/Patt hospital is sooo greedy, it's only about money, and I think they charge much more for foreigners than Thais, so I stay away from them now. I just did a separate post looking for a place to get a vitamin B12 injection and perhaps the clinic you mentioned would work well - I am located in Naklua and go to Best Supermarket often. Could you be more helpful regarding the location (landmarks such as a restaurant or hotel or whatever). Thanks

Naam
Dr Olivier... Sadly i found Dr Oliver to not be of a very high standard he doesn't treat surgeons, especially not nervous ones. reason: based on his experience as anaesthetist.

thaisabai
DOCTOR OLIVIER IN SOI DAY NIGHT. VERY PROFESSIONAL, SPEAKS 5 LANGUAGES. WILL RECOMMEND YOU A SPECIALIST TO SEE IF NECESSARY. THAISABAI
luudee
Definitely Dr. Oliver, very professional, very reasonable prices ... Have been personally using him for over 10 years .... Definitely a high standard doctor. Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, as mentioned is expensive, but definitely the choice for more serious things. Both my kids where born there, great service for that. Many heart attack patients are very satisfied. luudee
SurfRider
. Apparently most of the crew posting here are opposed to BPH based on cost. I'd partially agree, but in most cases you get what you pay for. I've paid from 400 to 1000 Baht per visit depending on the specialty and experience of the doctor. I don't consider that unreasonable - especially if it's a critical issue. I always go first to Dr. Iain Corness for a recommendation on which doctor to see - he's a Brit. and the liaison between expats and the hospital staff. He's always been very helpful. I think his hours are weekdays from 8am to noon - he's on the 2nd floor in the International Department at the top of the lobby escalator. He can also be reached by phone. . As a Brit I take that as an insult, the attention seeking person you refer to is an Aussie. My vote for a local GP goes to Dr Olivier Edited November 26, 2012 by RabC
SurfRider
. "person you refer to is an Aussie" That seems to be a common misunderstanding. Corness told me himself that he was born and raised in England. He practiced medicine in Australia for over 30 years, thus the apparent confusion. . Ian is an Australian & as far as I am aware is NOT permitted to practise in Thailand. My expeience with him is he's a salesman & after the last couple of experiences with BPH , Never again. infinity11
DR o is ok but he also falls into the same god complex most doctors have. I asked him how he knew something was the way it was and he responded: 'because i am a doctor." Probably the most arrogant answer one could possibly expect. So yes he is OK and better than most Thai clinic doctors but he also lacks a certain compassion patience and humility I would expect from an excellent one. Best of luck and don't get sick!!!!! Why don't you check with him him before reporting incorrect information here? Seems to me that he would know where he was born, raised, and educated. . SurfRider
. "Well i guess he's an Australian citizen" Why would he give up his British citizenship just because he was working in Australia?
