Thai man dies playing video game

BANGKOK, Nov 23, 2012 (AFP) - A Thai video game addict died in front of his computer after a string of marathon all-night sessions, police said Thursday.

The body of the 24-year-old man was found slumped in his chair in his room in Samut Songkhram province southwest of Bangkok, according to authorities.

"He was addicted to games. He hardly went to bed but always played computer games from night until morning," local police officer Chaichana Boonrod told AFP by telephone.

His body will be sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said.

There is a game called 'Amnesia', that, with the lights out on a large flat screen TV is enough to give you a bloody heart attack I tell you. It is a cure for anyone who finds it easy to go to sleep at night.

Poor lad, but as has already been suggested, it is totally impossible to self deprive of sleep to the extent that you keel over and die. The only way to do that would be excessive use of stimulants.

Addicted to keyboard and screen. Some people really have no life, therefore no loss either. Sad his parents/family did nothing to seek help or divert his passion.

Hit the nail on the head G. But I like to think I can argue till the cows come home regarding basic manners. Empathy is one of the best things we all need. The most successful work together. Sawadee Krap.

Cause of death? He was too stupid to liverolleyes.gif .

Why was this not ruled a suicide? Does it have to do with saving face?

What a way to go. I think some TV members should take note of this... there's a whole 'nother world out there.

Irony?

You said it, right!

Well, it sounds like he did not have much of a life anyway. We are all given choices in life, how we want to spend out time, what books we read, what topics we study, and where we want to devote our energy, and passions. Anyone who spends 5 to 10 hours at a time in front of a screen, in a way that is not earning an income is making some pretty bizarre choices, no?

- agree.

(but also, they may not have known if he was doing any kinds of dugs or if he had any underlying medical issues)

This happens in Japan often enough. Internet cafes there are basically 24 hour homeless shelters. The leading cause of death in these cases is dehydration or blood clots in the legs from sitting too long. Just sayin.

You know, it's much easier, the suicide theory, in case it is a Farang (p.ex., any other non Thai will do, too). And a lot less paperwork.

But: Sure it is about face.

I do not know about the 'Meth' problem with youth in Bangkok.

But you do know, that Hilters soldiers , at the front, had to take 'meth', to stay alerted?
