PATTAYA:--As part of a 17 day crackdown on illegal foreign workers, Chonburi Immigration based in Jomtien arrested over 200 illegal foreign construction workers on Friday Morning at two locations.

Police Colonel Chaiyot, the Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration announced the arrest of 215 foreign construction workers who were unable to provide Police with valid work permits. They were arrested at a condominium construction site in Soi 15 off the Thappraya Road and at a constructors campsite in Na-Jomtien.

Cambodian, Vietnamese, Burmese and Laos nationals were detained and will be deported

Was just there and saw them all ,thought that they were new police recruits.smile.png

I just don't get why in this country they have to show photos of the officers involved,surely they are trained better than that.

Good work but that is there job blink.png .....nether the less let's hope the positions can be filled with Thai's that want to work on site,some how i doubt it and the next wave will be in situ next month.

Better to arrest the employers. But we know that won't happen.

The sad reality is that these people are recruited in their own countries and many are scammed from day one of paying their finders fees, lied to about work regulations then treated poorly when here and often turned in by their own employers who renege on their salaries.

Bingo , they are replaced & the ones leaving don't get paid & the cost to employers is small & profits are up.

So the merry go round continues

ASEAN is planning to bring in free movement of labour. It will be interesting to see how Thailand deals with this if it ever happens.
