Us Visa Application Submitted With Mistake

Featured Replies

I did a really dumb thing. I accidentally switched my GF kid’s birth places on the applications and submitted them. Just realized this now. I have not set appointments or paid for them at this time. I read about correcting them AFTER a failed interview, but can’t figure out what to do now. Can I just submit new ones? And come to the interview with the new matching application numbers. Any help would be appreciated. I want to do this right.

Thank you

JJJ

Mr Google comes up with some solutions:

The Bangkok embassy doesn't seem to have an answer in their FAQ

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas/frequently-asked-questions.html

You could send them an email and ask, and hope for a reply:

CONTACT INFORMATION

Consular Section

Embassy Bangkok

95 Wireless Road

Bangkok 10330, Thailand

E-mail: [email protected]

However, other U.S. Embassies do:

http://trinidad.usembassy.gov/i_have_made_an_error_on_my_visa_application_form._will_this_affect_my_appointment

If you have made an error on your Visa application form this will not affect your appointment. You can correct this error by simply handwriting the correction on the form. You must ensure that on the day of your interview, you bring this error to the attention of the staff at the embassy. Applicants also have the option of re-doing the application form online. Please note that you will receive a different barcode, however there is no need to reschedule your appointment.

22. I have completed my application and discovered a mistake, what should I do?

If you have completed your application and later found a mistake, please complete a new application. We no longer have means to correct electronic applications.

Thank you Thanyaburi Mac for some very good info.

I’ll email the embassy, and give them 2-3 work days for a reply. Plan B, will be to start from scratch as suggested at some of the other embassies. I’m tempted to do that now, but I have time, so a few days for an email is not a problem. Plan B, does make sense though, being I have not paid.

Thanks again, very helpful

I got an auto response from the Embassy. In a nutshell, they have bigger fish to fry, which I can understand. Looks like they spend a lot of time responding to denied or complicated applications. So, I will go Plan B, and start fresh. I can’t imagine that being a problem as they will match up the application number, with the invoice and application number we bring to the interview.

BTW. What exactly are they going to ask two small girls at an interview? I think I read somewhere that an interview may not be necessary for kids under……I think 9 or 12? Any thoughts on that? Anyone? Thanyaburi Mac?

Sincerely

JJJ

Did you submit ID cards or birth certs for the kids?

Thai passports which also contain national ID #

Well, the ECO's aren't 'tards - they will see your simple mistake then and correct it.

Chill.

@ JJJ

I just submitted this same package. It will be really interesting to hear the questions for my 5 year oldsmile.png . I would like to hear about your experience. Please post results.

Hello,

Everything went well. No problems at all. The interview was quick, and only asked where we were going and how long. Got issued visas for 10 years.

However, that brings up another question: Due to family issues beyond our control, our plans have changed. The port of entry and times have changed. Is that a big deal, or does it not matter?

Thanks

JJJ

Well, congrats, glad things went through OK.

Re change of plans, also not a worry, changes happen, that's recognized by U.S Immigration.

Have a nice trip!

Mac
