Gymkhana Hit By The Storm Last Night - Balloon Festival Opening Delayed Today

The Balloon Festival at Gymkhana was hit by the big storm last night, and will apparently not operate as planned this morning.

From what I hear, they are in the process of cleaning up, and hope to open later today

This is the last day of the festival - and what a great pity - according to reports, it was going wonderfully well, and a really super event.

I hope they recover completely from this, and that it comes to a close as a huge success this evening.

Got up at 5 am & drove to the venue. Much tree damage and an electricity pylon was across the road next to the club so the road was closed.Looked like a lot of cleaning up to do & maybe that pylon will take a while to remove. Such a pity that the storm was so powerful. I hope that none of the balloons suffered any damage.

I went yesterday arvo and it was very good, many things to see and the Irish band they had on late in the afternoon were very good, I left after the night glow show, which was very good and then walked to the Iron bridge then to the Night Bizzare, when I saw a flash of lightning and the store holders ruching madly to cover their stalls, knew that we were in for some rain.

Did plan on going to the early morning to the Gymkanna but saw the update on Facebook about the storm, a real pity
