Hi everyone.

I am going back to the uk in March for one month and i want to take my fiancee (filipino) with me to meet my family.

we have been together for four years now. we have both been working in thailand during this time. When we plan to go to England we will both have holiday and will have jobs to come back to.

I just have a few questions:

1.Does he need to submit six month of bank statements, as he was being paid in cash he never put money into his account. he has started to do this now, so when we apply he will have had his salary into his account for four months. Also my mum will be his sponsor and will provide housing while we are there.

2. Do you know how much money he has to have to be sufficient for the trip?

3. Do we need to provide photos of our relationship for a tourist visa?

4. Are there any documents that you can think of that could help me with my application?

1) Whoever is paying for the trip needs to show that they have the funds available to do so and should submit at least the last 3 months bank statements or similar; 6 is better as it gives a clearer long term picture.

Your mum should write a letter of invitation, describing the accommodation available and if possible including evidence that she can offer it to him, such as a mortgage statement if she owns or a landlords letter if she rents.

BTW, you are the reason for his visit so you are his sponsor. Your mum is simply providing the accommodation.

2) How long is a piece of string? There is no set amount, it depends on the length of the trip, where the visitor is staying etc.

3) No, but it wouldn't hurt. To avoid possible viruses etc. infecting their system photos on electronic media, such as a memory stick or CD, are not acceptable; hard copies only.

4) In addition to evidence of finances and accommodation:-

  • Letter from his employer stating how much leave he is being given, when he is due back to work and that his job will be kept open for him. One from yours wont hurt, either.
  • Copy of your passport to show that you live in Thailand.
  • Any evidence, such as utility bills, showing that you live together; if you do.

Have a read of UK Visit Visa Basics and the links contained therein.

Then come back with any further questions.
