Logistics........... Know Anyone Trustworthy.

Featured Replies

hi guys,

the wife goes to Maesai regularly to buy stuff for resale.

Its a long trip from where we live (6 hours bus, 4 car).

anyone know of a reliable and trustworthy person/business that can pick up a large box of goods (not heavy) dried fruit and sweets, take it to the bus station and book it onto the bus for delivery to us.

Its a simple job and my wife will give a full days wage for about 30 minutes work.

anyone of your thai friends spring to mind ?

thanks in advance.

You should re-think this idea.

I am assuming that you wouldn't be using the box to transport anything illegally, but what if somebody adds something to that box and it is found at a police check with your name as being the intended recipient?

My thoughts as well. Picking up a box in mae sai and delivering it is the stuff of which LOCKED UP ABROAD is made from. Not accusing OP of anything nefarious BUT frankly I wouldn't do it for a close friend much less someone you don't even know.

Paranoid much ??????

with those thoughts in mind, I am assuming none of you order anything online.

any package can be tampered with at any point, any where. I assume you don't use the postal service either. after all, if a package is sent to you, who's to say somebody opens it in transit, adds something suspicious and sends it on.

Better paranoid than in jail here.

To be honest I do not blame them. I have stayed in a few non tourist villages and trying to get a lift off the locals always raised the question 'what was I carrying' - they are very afraid of being associated with drug runners.

I was at one Lahu local dinner at a farmers home and it was visited by more than 20 heavily armed police at 11pm, very tense time for all - I was questioned and camera bag searched.

Anyone who has been to mae sai is probably aware that it is a big point for smuggling. The buses coming back to CR are normally stopped at two checkpoints for paper check but they also sometimes want to look at baggage. I once had them even open my, a farang, bag up and go through it and obviously they weren't just intereseted to see what kind of underwear i had. Picking up a box in the GOLDEN TRIANGLE from someone you don't know is hardly the same thing as ordering something online from amazon.com or using the postal service.

Maybe paranoid but as harry said better paranoid than end up trying to explain a few thousand meth pills in a box in your possesion.

Anyway...up to you.
