Hello all, just want to check some visa info.

Im 35 year old male living in Thailand, british passport, married to Thai wife and have a daughter. If I want an extension of stay based on having a Thai child how long does the 400,000b have to be in the bank?? I have recently read that there is no set time the money has to be there for, is this true? Also does anyone have experience of obtaining this kind of extension at Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration.

Thanks for your replies.

Money must be in Thai bank in your name only, not joint account, 2 months prior to application on first and follow-on extensions.

For having a Thai child there is no seasoning requirement. However, sice you are married to a Thai wife immirgation will probably want you to extend based on your wife and not your child. That means the money has to be in a bankaccount in Thailand in your name only for 2 months prior to applying for the extension.

Could I choose marriage or dependant extension or is that up to Immigration?

If living with wife believe they will require that - the dependent would be you having custody of children as from death/divorce type actions.

Thanks, question answered. Thought I might be able to get away without having the money in the bank for two months, its not easy for us younger guys!

For what this thread is about, parent of a Thai child, the requirement is the same 400k but no time in account requirement as for Thai wife.

Believe you are thinking of a parent of a foreign child on education extension of stay with is only 30 days for first application but 3 months for others.

If you don't have 400k in your bank for 2 months, you could go to the British Embassy and sign an Affidavit for income verification that you have foriegn income over 40K Baht a month, I know that the US and Canadian Embassy offers the form, I don't know if the British Embassy does.Income Verification form.pdf

Nope. You cannot.

You need proof of income

The British Embassy do not take your word for it, you have to have a document proving the fact that you have the income.

Money has to be on the bank for 3 months. You need a letter from your thai bank and copies from the las three months from your bank book. Extentions based on 'thai wife' are send to bangkok for approval. Khorat immigration can/does not decide. They lost the last page copy of my bankbook somewere on my last renewal and Ihad to fax it when immigration in Khorat called me because Bangkok wouldn't approve without thos page which only showed the balance of 2.5 months ago and older. They are very strict, I have seen people turned down because they only had 396000 bath for only one day qhile all the rest was over 40k.

Thai wife extension requires 2 months in bank account - parent of a Thai does not require any seasoning in account. The requirement are contained in police order 777/2551
