Another aspect of this. The Trump operatives are very clear in their goal to replace regular IRS taxes with tariff taxes as much as possible. Why is that noxious? Among other things IRS taxes are progressive and spare poorer people an unfair proportional burden. Tariff taxes hit the lower and middle classes the hardest proportional to their income and the wealthy won't feel any pain from them at all.
