Bars in Thailand Set to Close This Week for Buddhist Holiday
Friday (9th) is the day of the "Royal Ploughing Ceremony. Normally Government departments and offices close, everyone else just carries on as normal. Sunday (11th) is Visas Bucha Day, a big Buddhist Day. Therefore the bars are shut on that day. Because it falls on a Sunday, Monday 12th is observed as a public holiday, albeit the bars are open. As some have pointed out, the local elections in some areas mean that in those areas bars will also be closed on the Saturday evening. -
