chiangmaikelly
Where you from, son“, the standard question before a medal and / or promotion was pinned on. “Chiang Mai, sir.” Col. turns to his aid and says “Chang My, sounds like some gook ville, what is that and should we really be promoting this soldier?” Flicker (a flicker is an aid to a field grade officer. Every field grade officer (Full Colonel and above) has a un-zipper a flicker and a zipper) Flicker “Yes sir, he’s just a little disoriented sir, he has been in-country 18 months. Ah hem (cough) we have a schedule sir.” The Colonel pins on medal. Salute. As the Colonel walks away and to his waiting helicopter. Colonel to flicker “Who are those small dark women with the odd hats on?” Flicker “I believe they are hill tribe people, sir.” Colonel “What are they singing?” Flicker “I don’t know sir but it sounds a little like “Please Mr. Postman” sir.” Barracks later: Soldier #1 “You actually told him you were from Chiang Mai?” Soldier #2 “Ya, no sh** I heard him, the Col. Freaked!” Soldier #1 “Chiang Mai, far out.” Soldier #2 “That’s not all, those ladies Kelly brought back from his last excursion now think he is a General and the national anthem of the United States is “Please Mr. Postman.” Soldier #1 “Kelly you have been here way too long.” From then on they called me Chiang Mai Kelly. MacChine
Yet another ego trip for this individual. Hopefully it will be shut down as fast as his last moronic thread. These days, it ain't bad. Gosh, what a happy, contented man you are!! Do you really believe that I get a buzz from my "illustrious forum ancestry"?
Kan Win
I joined ThaiVisaDotCom in 2003 and having obtained my PR in 2002. I did not join for any Visa related things as one did not require any, however I did find in those long gone days a forum (how I found it ???? Too many a beer have gone by) which was the first one that I joined after reading the posts (free of those trolls that are here now) found the trolls on other forums hence no posts over there. So how did I choose Kan Win ? Easy and simple really. Kan is short for Kanchanaburi just west of Bangkok where we (my wife and I) have a home, working in Bangkok and week-ends in Kan. So there was me thinking ahhhhh Kan and then my first three letters in my passport W.I.N. OK, so now should I call myself. I-Kan Win, no, too much in the face for forum members. What about U-Kan Win, once again no. So then it became Kan Win, sometimes I win and most of the time I lose. Now you all know.
