I've just got a letter to say my wife's card du Sejour ( France's version of the Permanent residence card) has finally been issued. One slightly worrying thing is that the letter uses my name as her surname, but my wife decided to retain her Thai name - it saved getting all her paperwork changed and she thinks if she has a western name people are going to try and charge her more as she has a rich Farang husband.

So assuming they have done this, she has a new post-marriage passport issued in her original name, is this miss match going to be a problem ?

We can't check just yet,as the card needs to be picked up in person and she has had to return to Thailand with a medical problem. We have not yet got her covered in the French system but she still has Thai private medical cover.

I assume she is also going to need a new visa to get here as she does not have the card yet and her previous 6 moths visa has now run out. - Luckily I'm a British citizen executing my EU rights so it will be free.
