Longneck Village For Tourists On The Way From Cr To Mae Sai

Featured Replies

Hello! Can somebody give me location of that village on Google Maps? My friend was there but can't remember, where is it. He said it's very close to CR, about 15-20 km.

Indeed, it's well sign posted on the left as you pass the universities turn offs.

Keep in mind that these ladies may not have had their necks stretched willingly before you decide to visit.

Which one university? Is it close to the Baan dam_n?

Sorry, slow internet tonight Google maps won't load.

If no one else helps out I'll have another go in the morning.

Best verbal direction I can do is it's past the university on the left, the sign is easy to see.

Cultural show.

How can it be a cultural show when you learn nothing from the visit? When you are lied to?

Wrong, i learned the neck isnt stretched , but the rings push the collar bones down.

It was me that said that mj, yes I know how it works it was just an off the cuff remark.

They do call them long necks though, not low collarbones. cool.png

How pathetic if the only thing that a person learned from visiting the "Longneck Karen" village was that their collarbones were actually pushed down.

Do you really expect to learn anything at these 'staged villages'?.

They shunt them around like cattle - I know a couple of 'pretty' girls who were forced from one village to the outskirts of Chiang Mai city to be close to the trade.

Freak shows.

A pity the Royal Projects don't step in and set up alternative sources of income but I suspect that some of the people involved may be in a position to protect the exhibitors.

Tell me this doesn't hurt?

I visited Ripley's "Believe it or not" at Niagara falls once and met the tallest female(lady?) in the world. The wild west was entertained by traveling shows exhibiting strange people with a miscellany of deformations.

People have a strange liking to look at disfigurement. Strange, but true.
