This is one of the links under "Visa Extension Text" on the web site.

Notice the date and time on the top after opening the file.

And this is at the bottom of the pdf Last Updated on Wednesday, 19 December 2012 09:38

199--90-.pdf

Formatting runs off the page.

I wouldn't expect anything less.

These were just posted yesterday, and it appears they are working on them because the "last updated" times have changed. What I attached were the download files from the url's.

Instead of complaining about the file which I downloaded, you can look at it at this url http://chiangmaiimm....e/199--90-.html for the 90 day FAQ's.

This url for the FAQ's http://chiangmaiimm....tions-faq-.html .

It seems they are trying to do something so English speaking people will have better information. The url's I put above wrap the text correctly in my browser. As I said in the first part of this post, it appears they are trying to fix the download files.

You may notice the registered mail option is still in these FAQ's.

Interesting....

Wow, they've done an amazing amount of work to improve the CM Immigration office's website. It looks accurate and not confusing. Definitely a nice resource now. Wonder if anyone has tried using their "contact us" email form to ask a question. I've tried those on the websites of Thai businesses and never get a response. It's like no one monitors the email address where the "ask us" forms are sent.

Not answering emails is part of the way it is in Thailand in my experience. I have been told this by many other people also. That being said, I have had quick responses to email or web messages in a few instances. I would guess an email in Thai language may get better results.

More interesting things. This is from the FAQ's. Should be interesting how the services making 90 day reports will handle "The alien's passport (original)", if that is something new.

3. Question : What are documents required for 90 days notification of residence ?

Answer : In case of notifying in person or made by agent, documents required are as follows;

  • The alien’s passport ( original )
  • Completed form of notification (TM.47) signed by the owner of passport
  • The latest receipt of notification ( if any)

yes, this answer about a third party needing the alien's passport in order to do a 90 day report didn't seem right. After all, how could you do a mail-in report or have a third party do it on an annual contract? It's not realistic to use your original passport with these options.

And as for sending them emails in the Thai language -- well, I've studied Thai and can read at a fairly high level, but it's still a PITA to send an email or SMS in Thai. One of my New Year's resolutions is to improve my Thai writing and keyboarding skills. Meanwhile, it's just easier to take a song thaew trip out to Immigration and ask a question in person.
