This shot taken from a roadside lookout would normally be spectacular with a deep valley and high mountains in the background

but the heavy smoke haze didn't allow that. The trip from Uttaradit to Nan and back was like this all the way,in parts down to 4-500

metres visibility.None of my road shots showed that very well thats why I am posting this one.

^^^ Howitzer...Wow...Cowboy used to be such a quiet place

back in the 80's. Originally set up as a quiet alternative to

Patpong. Streeets were clear of tables & chairs, a pub named

the Windjammer used to be a great hangout...times have

surely changed...I have some old pix of the day, I'll post em

after I find em...will take a while though.

I guess it might be a thai thing but any street near the central downtown area seems to be cluttered. i think some of the business people saw that they were missing out on money making opportunities so they had to do up the entire place with neon lit signs, girls and booze to earn the tourist dollars.

^^^ Hah!...Back in "the day" the business owners didn't need the neon & cluttered

streets to get business. We came simply because it existed...and the girls were

cuter too BTW! However...you're spot on with the cluttering of all places these

days....shame isn't it?

Yup i guess every thai who doesn't have much money to open a shop/restaurant inside a building sees all that empty space on the street and think he could make some money off that human traffic so sets up some push cart selling food. If he didn't do that someone else would.
