Time for another one....

attachicon.gifplane3.PNG

Looking for aircraft type....and at which airport did it make its final landing?

Potez 840.. Went wheels up in Sumburgh...

wink.png

Exactly....you are a clever lot.

My first trip to Sumburgh was in the summer of 2008 I think and there was a flash flood.....the approach to Sumburgh airport is over the sea....it was terrifying to me.

Worse was the 4by4 taxi to Lerwick.....we had to try three different routes before we could get there.....beautiful sunshine in Lerwick however.....well worth the wait.

That plane is still on Shetland apparently....never an easy place to escape lol

Airbus Winglet (and Sharlets)

Airbus has pioneered the use of wingtip devices in aviation for decades,
beginning with its cornerstone A300 and A310 jetliner programmes. Both
were outfitted with components called wingtip fences – which help reduce
the spiral-shaped vortices that form at the wingtips of any aircraft
during flight, creating aerodynamic drag.

These wingtip devices – which are arrow-shaped
surfaces attached to the tip of each wing – enhance the overall
efficiency of aircraft, saving fuel by reducing drag while also lowering
noise emissions by improving take-off performance.

Experience gained with the A330/A310 was applied to
Airbus’ initial wingtip fences for the A320 Family, which measure 2.4
metres in height. They were followed by the incorporation of wingtip
fences and larger winglet-type devices on the A330, A340, A380 and – in
the future – Airbus’ new-generation A350 XWB.

The best gets better

Airbus’ next step is the large Sharklets™ wingtip devices, representing the
latest element in an ongoing continuous improvement programme for its
best-selling A320 Family.

AirAsia – a low-cost airline in Asia as well as
Airbus’ largest A320 Family airline customer – became the first operator
to receive a Sharklet-equipped jetliner in December 2012 with delivery
of the milestone A320ceo aircraft.

Sporting the new sharklets?

Nice one David48, had a good lot of us scatching our heads...

Honestly ... I <deleted> all about planes ... just the inside from the outside and despite a great desire to turn left as I enter through the cabin door ... inevitably I turn right each time.

What worried me was that the flight data was wrong on the last one ... so didn't want 2 f-ups in a row ... so I 'phoned a friend' who put me straight.

Thanks T***** ... wai.gif

China Southern Airlines. The A330-223/343 looks to be a closer match. Definitely an Airbus though if you look at the flap bumps underneath.

It just looks like a bog standard AirAsia Airbus a320-216 ?

.

Judging from the day I was at Chek Lap Kok last month, Mr. Fernandez is bog standard on the Aircraft type but paints the Malaysian ones as flying billboards. Notice the Thai registered one in bog standard Air Asia colours. Don't ask me "why".

Thai AirAsia have the following liveries.

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Old Titles"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Chiang Mai University"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Truely Asean"

Good grief, man. Is that an acceptable spellingof "truly" in some version of my native tongue? Peepil like this, distorted "kecap" to "ketchup" and look what Herr Heinz did with that! Colonial responsibility never really ends does it.

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 New Titles"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 2012 Year of the Dragon"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Carabao"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Visit Chiang Mai"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Bodyslam"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 Skytrax World's Best"

"Thai AirAsia Airbus A320-200 New Colours"

Bored were you?

possibly in KL before they upgraded the shed?

Jolly good answer.

Where was this photo taken from? And what is the name of the airport terminal which can just be seen in the rear left of the photo?

Photo taken from KL LCCT. Therefore the terminal in the background is KLIA

Not a very exciting question I'm afraid - but well done smile.png

Oh - and the photo is recent. Taken this month.
