Thanks transam.

Makes me think proudly of my father. Flight lieutenant on a Dakota over Arnhem.

Lucky to make it back.

'Per ardua ad astra.'

RAF motto. As you well know.

In the village where I live about 150 people died in a flood in 2001.

King of Thailand has built a dam since.

Protection for the village in the rainy season. Irrigation in the dry season.

Long live the King.

The world moves fast now transam.

15 minutes of fame.

There is still bravery and courage.

Yep, for sure. My mum was not a combatant but was bombed out of two houses and dodged bullets from the air in the street in London. When in her eighties it all came back. sad.png

My Dad is alive and well at age 96. As is common with older people, his long term memory is great. He's one of the few people left you can talk to who landed on D-Day, fought his way through France into Belgium He was wounded in Belgium just before The Battle Of The Bulge, and has a purple heart for being wounded and a bronze star for bravery.

He remembers the first airplane he ever saw, about 1918? lied about his age to join the army at age 14 so he could get enough to eat (1931 depression) and I never tire of his stories.

He was on top of a hill above the beach at Normandy, and could look down more toward Paris direction. Some allied bombers flew wave after wave of bombing missions, and flew about 5 miles into allied troops, killing a bunch of them. This was where and when General McNair was killed by that mishap. Dad had to crawl under a tank and still got dirt thrown onto him from the bombs.

Well it looks like an Airbus A330...that much I can see

Look like SVB needs to learn to count Little Miss Piggies that hang off the wings.

The A330 only has half of the little toes as this one !!!
