Ok here goes

I am 53 years old ENGLISH

been living in Thailand since 2001 on non B s and work permits now living here semi retired doing my own thing

finances

savings account high interest bond 4 monthly interest with BKK bank for 4 months showing 1million THB and current account with 3000 k in

what I want is a multiple o visa this will give me 15 months leaving every 90 days

I am not interested in 90 day reporting or stuff like that just prefer to keep it simple

can I get in one Penang...... my old business contact for non Bs tells me there is a new consulate so things are once again tightened ... or if not where?

Simplest thing is to go to immigrations and apply for 1 year extension of stay.

Only thing you need is to bring bank statement with 800.000 baht over two months.

Copy your old non-B, and copies from your passport and 1900 baht.

You can go to Penang and get a multiple non-O based on retirement.

For this you must provide same paperwork as for the extension of stay but also pay 5.000 baht.

Then you will have to do border runs every 90 days.

Hmmm, he wrote he got 3000k Baht in his account... its 3.000.000,- or was there a 0 too much?

with 3mio in the account for longer as a month (or 3) one has absolutely no problem i heard....BUT just one question,

is it REALLY absolutely sure Penang is doing again these visas? I was refused 3 years ago, used to travel to Penang before

always, never had a problem. But heard it is still up to the Embassy or Consulat people if they are in a mood or not.

I usually fly out to KL Malaysia if not back to my homecountry but no time travel home this year, so its sure, Non O Multiple are again available in Penang?

whistling.gif You may be able to get a multi entry one year visa but the question you will have to answer is Why.

By giving you a 90 day non O visa and having you then do the retirement extension in Thailand during that 90 days, they maintain the control over the process and actually it's usually easier for the retiree to do 90 day reporting and less expensive also.

Now, unless there is some overriding reason for you to get a multi entry visa and not do 90 day reporting locally in Thailand why should they give you one?

Simply because you want one is probably not going to get you one.

From the immigrations viewpoint having you do 90 day reporting is more conveinent for THEM.

The purpose of the retirement extension is for those foriegners residing in Thailand long term based on retirement in Thailand.

Long term residents are those that reside in Thailand longer that 90 days.

That's exactly what it says on the form you submit ... for foriegners residing in Thailand for more than 90 days.

It's purpose is NOT so a person can travel out of the country every 90 days.

So you're going to have to prove to the immigration why you should be a exception, and why you can't do 90 day reporting in Thailand ... but want an exemption to their normal procedure.

Bottom line ... a so-called retirement visa is for those who live as retirees for more than 90 days in Thailand ... so why should you be given an exception?

thx for your fast answer IMF ;) I am living in Thailand since 1999 , build a house here in 2001 and having a Restaurant with 3 staff since 6 years. However, I can not afford to put 400.000 Baht into a BANK account for more then one reason...first is, i just HATE Banksters, 2nd I just dont have so much money to waste. I am happily married since more then 10 years to a Thai Citizen, we married in S`pore and the marriage is registred in Thailand and my homecountry.

Usually there was an exception here for...how they called it... grandfathered Farang wich are living longer in Thailand since.... i forgot the rest, but it was in 2006. Unfortunately the nice gay in the Phuket Immigration refused to work after the regulations given by Bkk´s Head office...so we flew to BKK, talked to the head immigration officer and she told us the guy in Phuket HAS TOO OR she will make problems with him....back in Phuket same same, not different, he still refused and said: THIS IS SPARTA...sry Phuket, not Bangkok... SINCE I do my Visa runs every 3 month and apply for a Non O Multiple in Kuala Lumpur or Berlin or or or.. kind of boring AND expensive

usually I drove to Penang..until 2009 when Penang refused to give more then a tourist visa....but they gave me a 60day single entry.... after I flew to KL and i liked it there, never met a more friendly Thai immigration staff somewhere else, people are very helpfull, friendly and educated... I mean, I do not wonder why other immigrations are so rude when l see some of the Farangs they have to deal with every day :)

However, I hope it explains it... a bit longer, hope u got some time to read and understand my english.

I just want to know if PENANG is doing the Non O Multiple again ... 100%. not may be or I guess so ... have to leave in a couple of days and Penang saves me some time

The Restaurant, in your wife's name?

Doesn't it create 40.000 Baht legalized income for her, a month?

It does not have to be your income, for extension of stay, it's called 'family income'.

And wasn't KL asking for a multiple Non Imm O for married people 'only' for 100k in a Bank?

Or do i get something wrong, right now?

Currently, extensions for marriage, it needs to be 40K per month, or 400K in the bank in his name. And I agree, I thought KL was asking for 100K.

right, I have around 100k in the bank, money i never touch. The shop is in my wifes name and create this income...BUT....like I wrote before, Regulations for Thailand are sometimes not the same here in Phuket like it seems....

is this 40k baht income a month true? I thought the farang have to prove the money comes from outside the country...and around 50k Baht a month or more then 1000.-Euro is just rediculous I belive...dont know how to spend so much money here anyway ;)

40k is the needed income for the extension of stay, being married to a Thai.

And also I'm pretty sure, it is 'family income' needed, not Farang only income!

And this rule, 40k, is (was) working in Phuket, too.

That would mean, in case your lady has a provable legal income of minimum 40k/month, or you 2 together have provable income of minimum 40k (she gets 20k, you get 20k from outside Thailand, p.ex., provable with her taxrecord and your embassy report) it should be ok.

In case, your wife can prove it alone, she can tell the Immigration officer in private, that you get this amount of money, for sure, in average from your home country or ...., but it's not really provable with paperwork, and not every month. Probably she isn't lying "doing my own thing finances", but only isn't delivering details!

EDIT: This informaiton about family income is incorrect. It is the foreign husbands income only.

The income has to be the Husband's income.

The Wife's income will not not be accepted.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Family income ceased with publication of police order 777/2551 - it must be husband and in his name. What may be available are 60 day extensions of any type of entry. Currently the best location for a multi entry visa for marriage is Savannakhet if no bank account available. KL will normally issue with proof of 100k in bank account and a recent report from Kota Bharu reports the same policy there but still waiting on confirmation that Penang also allows.

Thanks Lite Beer, i have to admit, I am an Alien.

So all wrong with the shop and the income. :(

I really do not understand this regulations anymore but I know thats not necessary, rules are rules.

I am living here since 13 years, spend a lot and never asking anything from this country.

We have some land and a house here in Phuket and some 20 Rai of land up north, invested a lot here

for the yearly asskicking of the immigration law, makes me kind of sad, every time when it comes to a new

Visa, specially when i see all this full body tatooed wannabe Thaiboxers or so called students which never saw

a languageshool from inside but living here since years....they must be better people then us

So no confirmation yet on Penang?

Then its KL again.... or should I open a new threat with a question on Penang again....

I have to apologize, then!

I'm thinking about the reason, for 'I'm pretty sure'.

Is that a change, that came with the October 2006 changes, and my knowledge didn't get updated?

Did I confuse it, with Alien wife and Thai husband?

Or was it simple a Somjet solution, to make it happen?

Probably I will not find that out easily.

But speaking off Somjet, how about using a 'qualified service', to assist you at Phuket immigrations?

Saves you the most time, but cost a bit extra money.

The rule changed in 2008
