AntMan1
I need to make a few calls to Europe can someone tell me what number i need to call before the dialing code to make it cheaper. I seem to remember a few years ago it was 001 or 009, can someone please confirm. Thanks
Crossy
009 is/was cheapest, 001 is the standard IDD prefix (you get this connection if you use the + on your phone). 00x (x=2-8) also work with varying rates, not seen them publicied in one place mind. ggold
On 1 2 call dial 00500 then international dialing code then the number of the person your calling minus the first 0 if there is one! Also recommend you do that each time to get the cheaper rate, ie do not speed dial the number. I spoke with a friend in the UK for about an hour for 100bhat. chonabot
008 for 12call works for me 7 baht per minute to UK landlines I believe

chrisinth
I know it detracts a bit, but have you tried Skype (or ant of the other several different VOIP services out there)? I swear by this for either the free computer to computer or the computer to phone service. I made several lengthy calls over the holiday period (mostly to UK) and I think the total for all calls was about 3 euro!!
KhunBENQ
Rates vary from country to country, so there is no best answer for "Europe". Generally 009 is considerably cheaper than 001 (009 is said to be VoIP). Check rates here: 001 operated by CAT: http://www.catteleco...=561&subcat=858 009 operated by CAT: http://www.catteleco...=562&subcat=865 007 and 008 are operated by ToT: 007: http://www.totiig.ne...ess1/007_en.php 008: http://www.totiig.ne...ess1/008_en.php 005 and 00500 operated by AIN. Mind the difference between 005 and 00500 (tricky) !!! 005: http://www.ain.co.th...untry_rate.html 00500: http://www.ain.co.th...00500_rate.html Very cheap rates can be achieve by using special mobile SIM cards, lile "True INTERSIM", down to 1 Baht/Minute. BUT I often had problems to get connected via this SIM card in the peak hours, so kind of "unreliable". http://www.truemove....IM-Prepay.rails (the 006 and 00600 prefix only works with these SIM cards) Edited January 3, 2013 by KhunBENQ
WilliamCave
Good question I also have a similar question hot to call Canada direct from my mobile here? I am using AIS?
KhunBENQ
Canada: simply dial 009 - 1 - (area code) - (destination number) Costs you 3 Baht/min. Example, want to call some number in Niagra Falls, area code 905: 009 1 905 123 4567 (1234567 being the destination number) Does not apply for international toll free numbers, they are 001-800 ... pattayadingo
008 for 12call works for me 7 baht per minute to UK landlines I believe CAT telecom cards at 200 Baht or more are a lot less, something like 1 - 2 Baht a minute and the cards are usually valid for 1 year.
