(New?) Chinese Restaurant In Pattaya: Ting-Tai-Fu Off 3Rd Road North

As "authentic" Chinese restaurants are so rare in Pattaya, I thought this place was interesting and important enough to merit it's own thread.

I just "found" it tonight online; I have not been there.

So at this point, I want to get the word out and encourage people to check it out, and start the reports!

Also if YOU have been there, time to spill the beans.

The info I do have is that it is the same owners as a well regarded place in Bangkok Chinatown. There was a Bangkok Sukhumwit location now closed. They have some menu items of definite interest: homemade noodle dishes with beef stew, Xialongpao (Shanghai soup dumplings), ma po tofu, a Sechuan looking green beans dish, other dumplings, etc.

Now I found another link with MANY MANY pictures of their food from Bangkok.

If this is for real, same food in Pattaya, and really open, this is a HUGE thing for the Pattaya Chinese food scene.

I can easily tell from the pictures if the same menu, there is nothing else in Pattaya like it having this range of dishes, many not for sale in town, and at fair prices too, not even close. I hope this isn't a hallucination about a Pattaya location.

That soupy dish with large pork meatballs (6:52) has got to be the Chinese classic: Lion's Head with Cabbage.

The chicken dish appears to be cold Shanghai chicken marinated in rice wine. Pao was doing that with chicken wings, but this looks more like sliced meat (in my view, better).

Again, if this turns out to be for real (in Pattaya) this is not only worth it's own thread it's downright historic in terms of Chinese food coming to Pattaya. Hiso hotels with 1500 portions of snowfish don't count in my book. This kind of place is the real thing.

Again, assuming this is for real, if you've only ever been exposed to is so called "UK style Chinese" you might be in for a big treat. Plus: they have egg rolls / pancake rolls, whatever you want to call them!

Yes, of course, I DO think the existence of a restaurant like this in Pattaya is legitimately major news to the people who DO care about good food in town. For example, if it was discovered that there was a new Mexican restaurant in town and the media reviews and videos showed an appearance of food and dishes appearing to be like an actual authentic Mexican restaurant (we have none like that in Pattaya) that too would be major food news, worthy of sharing, whether the poster had a chance to taste the food yet or not.

As to the location, that map shows it being in what appears to be an undeveloped field of trees somewhere behind 3rd Road up towards North Pattaya Road...so it may not be too accurate, unless the lot has been developed since the map data was generated. Might be best to get a phone number and call them for the exact address. This should probably be done while in a song tow or motocye so the phone child be handed off to the driver.

I would be interested on a report on this place as the mapo tofu looks really good and that is one of my fav Chinese food dishes.

Yes, traffic on North Rd. was tailed back as far as BHP so I dove down 32 parallel to it. But looking at the map again it could be located in a soi off 32?

If so they must be targetting only Chinese tour groups as that area is wilderness.

Also with that location I reckon the place might be getting packed for dinner (as noted on the Japanese review). It's kind of funny isn't it, that we hear about this MAJOR NEW place (culinarily speaking) on Thaivisa only because of a random freakish google search I did rather than the mainstream English language Pattaya press?

If you do and you can't get a table, you almost can't go wrong with any of the Korean restaurants on that part of 3rd road instead.

This first time I passed, in October, I noticed Szechuan on a sign and did a double take.

Then when I re-read the thread, I thought I was wrong and you's were talking about somewhere totally different so deleted comments.

So if it is this place (on the right hand side of third road when heading north, just past the flyover) its still on my to do list, but each time I have passed lately its looked busy, which is a good sign.

I think you are wrong and are referring to Jua Lee Chinese which has been here for DECADES and offers standard predictable (boring) Thai Chinese food, not hard to find in Pattaya, nothing like the offerings at Ting-Tai-<deleted> (CHINESE Chinese).

Hi guys,

where its marked on the map is accurate, there is an alley at the side with parking behind, the sign is small,

look for the guys in white in the window pulling noodles.

Its about 200 yards before north road on the left as you go north, yes there are many Korean places around

this area.

There is seating for about 40 pax and it is quite busy. They have plenty of staff, not like Pao's, so service is quick.
