SJ...Your post #128...actually these dwellings were once most likely quarters for

estate workers. All over SEA these have a similar look...linked dwellings kinda

thing. Just a thought. Interesting shot.

Not sure if this qualifies as an old house; but what is perched on top of it looks pretty ancient.

The accommodation is nothing more than a container; but it does have an engine out the front as a conversation piece, and the aircraft on top must help reduce the heat from the sun and provide additional sleeping space when people come to stay.

Posted

^^^ FR...That container has an old Fairchild C-123 Provider perched on top. Not an uncommon aircraft

in these parts back in the 60's & 70's. Used in a few configurations such as logistics, the AC variant used

on the HCMT (see attached link) and the UC version (sprayed Agent Orange on Vietnam) amongst other

variants. Here's a wiki link...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_C-123_Provider

And another link about the AC variant...

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/ac-123.htm

Mind you, I wouldn't wanna be living in the conex below the plane if said plane

was of the UC variant.....Hmmmmmm....

If you go see it again look for a serial/tail number & PM it to me...an old

friend can trace it's history....could be interesting. Or have a good close

look on the engne and find the serial number...same thing regarding

history and better still...an engine serial number along with the tail number.

Not that old but abandoned to the trees, would still be easy to get back into livable condition.

What looks like cracks are actually termite tunnels where they have gone up to get at the wood.

Apologies- but spirit houses seem to have been acceptable so far in the topic- and I want it to appear in my 'my content' list. Thanks for reviving it Olinki- some great photos here. (Note to self- spend more time browsing the photography forum).

^^^^ That would be a nice building after a pressure wash and a repaint, window replacement, exterior up lighting etc...oh and a few hanging baskets.

Its a shame to see a good structure ill treated.

Yes rhythmworx, look like a french architecture from the last century; like we can see in Vietnam and Laos ;

but in these countries, they did very good renovation about these buildings;

never in Thailand ;

don't know why the words repair, , maintain, keep up, clean, don't make dirty , don't exist in the thai dictionary ...sad.png

A bit of a cheat, since this is a reconstruction at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Garden in CM.

It always amazes me how they managed any degree of safety, cooking inside a wooden house on an open fire with only a small bed of sand for a base.

Mrs R delivering a lecture on drinking. Fortunately this time it was only on how, in her childhood home, the family kept the drinking water on a stand like this.
