Robby nz
The Lesser Whistling ducks seem to like landing and hanging around on top of vegetation. I have been seeing this pair land in the same place anytime I am in that area. They land and stand looking around for a while then take off and fly round for a bit then land again. I don't think they have a nest for they don't sit and nesting is about over now. It could be an old nest site that they go back to, who knows.

Robby nz
More nest leavers. A Black Drongo chick with a parent sitting close by. I am picking this to be a young Coppersmith Barbet that hasn't attained adult colors. A young Blue Tailed Bee Eater. When I first saw this bird I thought it was some sort of Rail or Crake as it had a very plump profile. I only got one shot of it before it took off and when I got home and put it on the computer for a closer look the only thing I can put it down to is a young Asian Pied Starling. Hope that's right.

Robby nz
Saw this bird fly in and land on a clump of vegetation. Unfortunately I couldn't see the whole body but the head and neck are unmistakable. Black Bittern.

Robby nz
Hanging out to dry. When I took this I thought I was looking at a group of Ashy Woodswallows which are quite common around here. But when I got home and had a closer look I see they are Barn Swallows, something I either haven't seen or haven't noticed before. Should have tried to get a bit closer and take some more.

Robby nz
Baan Baya. A village of Bays Weaver nests. Top right you can see a male looking on, there were others in there also but they are lost in the leaves. A male doing a bit of work on his nest. And the female doing her bit also.

Robby nz
Saw a group of 6 or 8 Java Sparrows squabbling on a wire when I was on my way into BKK on a bus this morning. It was a bit south of Don Muang near the Maserati showroom. I have never seen these birds before and the book I have says they are restricted to the BKK area. I was wondering if anyone else has seen them and how common they might be?
hanno
Robson has their range as North of BKK; so that sounds right. Introduced species anyway....
Goshawk
It was a bit south of Don Muang near the Maserati showroom. Bang on the money! There's been a small population living in this area for years... they're escaped cage birds in origin.

Robby nz
Phu Kae Botanical Gardens south of Lop Buri. Saw one of these birds a while back at a distance and have been back several times trying to get a reasonable shot of them. They were in very thick cover of bamboo thickets and other vegetation and had a lot of trouble getting a focus on them through all the branches and leaves. Robby nz
Have seen a light colored raptor flying around a couple of times recently. Very rare to see them here only ever seen two in the past both on the wing. This morning I got a good look at this one while riding my bike and it was good enough to stay put on the tree till I got some photos. Robby nz
They are supposed to be quite wide spread but I have only ever seen these birds in one place at the Bang Rachan Heros Monument in Singburi Been back several times to try to get a reasonable photo and yesterday when we were sitting eating lunch some of them appeared. Robby nz
My favorite bird, at present, these things change. Great colors and great expressions. Don't take my photo when I'm like this Wait till I get myself organized. That's better. Now I'll smile for the camera. What's that down there? Morning talk time. That's where I'll go. Never got them identified so I'll post them here and see if anyone can ID this one. Unfortunately no frontal shot. Thanks.
