Every ham I have tried was filled with so much liquid smoke, made it taste funny. Any place in Bancok that does real smokeing? I miss my hams from back in USA!

Your name is Backwoods. Do you live in the backwoods? If so, it is very fun and rewarding to smoke meat. The ham you are talking about is cooked by smoking. Fish is awesome smoked.

There are recipes for rubs all over the net, and you will be able to tell which one you'd like by the ingredients. If I have a mild flavored fish, I simply rub on salt, lemon pepper, butter and garlic. For a ham it's salt and pepper and honey. You might like garlic. Often cloves are pushed into the ham.

I'm never out of beef jerky. I make a bunch and freeze it. I must admit that I have a small commercially made electric smoker called a Masterbuilt. You can get them a lot cheaper in other brands and they work fine too. Most have a wood chip tray to create the smoke with hardwood chips. It has a thermostat, drip pan... easy.

Masterbuilt. There should be something in LOS I'd think.

Don't live in the Backwwods anymore, I kept the name from the hunting guide service when I was back in the states. I wish I could mess with an electric smoker, but my dogs will let nothing in the yard without tampering with it! I do make Jerky with my dehydrater, and looking for someone who smokes or cures ham. I have bought a few from the Villa markets, but have to cut almost an inch ooff outside layer for me to eat, too artificial.

Sadly when Bobby that had the Silver Dollar died, so did the smoked hams you are looking for. He had a custom built Texas style smoker out front and had some damned good tasting ham.
