Incoming Mail With The Address In Roman Alphabet ?

Featured Replies

Something needs to be sent my way from the UK - likely to be sent Royal Mail Air-Mail Letter service.

Would it get delayed if addressed in the Roman alphabet ?

...I presume the delivery would be handled by the regular national postal service and not EMS?.

edit: I'm in Pattaya not out-in-the-sticks if that matters.

Correct, standard mail service, NOT EMS, it will be just fine.

ALL standard service mail items (Royal Mail) are handled by the National Postal service.

Many Thanks, Charlie.

Now had you asked that about a letter addressed with Thai alphabet to The UK I might have understood your question! Even then I would still say it would probably arrive.

Fortunately for you Thailand is on planet earth (only just) not sure about you though.

Has to be one of the dumbest questions asked!

No.

I'm a belt AND braces man myself so have the address written in Thai and English if it's really important.

Letters written only in English usually arrive but the occassional card goes missing.

I just had a lightweight parcel from the UK with the delivery address written in English. The dear Thai postie simply threw a card on the floor outside my premises saying I had to report to the Pattaya Delivery Office (half way to Sattahip it seemed) because a signature was required. Still, I was pleasantly surprised that it made it (12 days).
