Certificte For Buying/selling Bikes Are Free!

Recommended Posts

When I came to thailand last year and bought a motorbike, i headed off to the Chiang Mai immigration office to get the certificate, but luckily arrived during lunch break, and met only an assitant there, and couldn't process my enquiry.

She said to come back after lunch, and told me that the service is free, but they will try to charge me for it.

When i got back, and he asked me for 'the 300 baht fee' i said that's fine, and asked for a receipt, after giving him the money. after about 5 minutes of playing dumb, (and noticing the other people getting restless in the que) he opened up his drawer and gave me back the money, and the new certificate and told me to 'GO AWAY NOW!"

Recently when i went back, to sell the bike, i did the same, this time not giving the money, and asked him why they couldn't give receipts. he said something about its for my countries embassy or so, but both times i had already taken the certificate, and bought and sold the bike with no problems....
