Change Thb To Gbp In Pattaya

No idea, where to exchange, but to answer your other question what it costs to buy £1,

At SCB you pay 48.0075 THB for 1 GBP, while exchanging 1 GBP gives you 46.335 THB

http://www.scb.co.th/scb_api/index.jsp

Other banks will have marginal better or worse rates

Edit: //

A quick search came up with the answer to your other question

Bank Gold in Soi Rungland off Pattaya Tai, i know the name says "bank" but's not a bank as such - always been the best around here.

If you are changing a large amount of back to GBP, are you going back to the UK? If so you would be better off changing once back in the UK. If not there used to be a money exchanger here, http://goo.gl/maps/5MEM4 on the same side as Kiss food, but a bit further up towards Suk Rd. Another place I used to use was here, http://goo.gl/maps/XU1Kq opposite the Big C on 2nd Rd, if you back is towards the Big C and you are stood on 2nd Rd, there is a Kodak sign slightly to the right, in there. Unfortunately, I do not know how to pin the precise places in Google. smile.png

I don't think that's a good idea, UK banks really don't want Thai Baht plus the conversion rate +commission there will almost certainly be much worse than in Thailand.

Never. There is virtually no demand for cash Baht outside of Thailand (apart from in next-door countries like Laos etc) and you will surely get an abysmal rate for cash Baht in the UK.

The best place to change any foreign currency back into your native countries currency, is in your own country. I used to do it from Thai Baht to GBP when I returned back to the UK and got a better rate every time, I also used to work for HSBC Premier, this even with the commissions involved. I would fly into Gatwick and change it Travelex.

Unfortunately, I can not find a website to show this other than this one, http://coinmill.com/GBP_THB.html. As you look down the list you will see the differences so, depending on the amount changed the margin will be come bigger. For example

GBP THB

10,000.00 = 472,273.00

THB GBP

500,000.00 = 10,587.10

That's still not quite right, it's the demand for the currency that's being handed in for conversion that determines its value and the degree to which it is wanted. Since THB is such a minor or trivial currency (there is no global market in THB) there is virtually no demand for it outside of Thailand and to a much lesser degree amongst neighbouring countries. That being the case the demand for THB in the UK is almost non existent, banks and forex companies will take it for sale to travel but that's it, as such its value is discounted. You might be able to find somewhere in the UK that appears to have a decent exchange rate although I doubt it, if the rate is OK then the commisssions and charges on top will destroy any benefit.

NatWest tourist buy/sell rates for Jan 23:

THB 43.1584 51.9551

Kbank tourist buy/sell rates:

GBP 46.451 47.835

The only way you will get a decent rate for THB in the UK is if you are returning THB that you previously purchased from the same place, and have a receipt.

Pound has been very weak for the past couple of weeks so it's cheap to buy right now.

Funny thing is you're in the the exact best place to sell Thai Bhat for GBP as many British tourists are coming here looking sell their native currency in massive amounts.

If you only advertised on message boards that you were willing to exchange at the days mid price; I'm sure you'd get rid of your bhat very quickly... although you might have to do a few deals if you have more Bhat that the average tourist needs.

Go to Bank Gold on Soi Rungland (opposite CAT Telecom on Pattaya Tai)

This is one of the best places to change large amounts of money. I've changed 5K USD there into THB a few times. It's just before 3rd road on Pattaya Tai, South side of the road (left as you are heading towards the beach). Go inside the soi and about 50 meters in, it's on your left.

A very bad idea. Buying and selling Baht in the UK there's a 10 per cent margin. i.e you can buy Baht at around 45baht/£. If you want to sell Baht you'll be paying 54 to the £.
