Slow Wifi Note 2

Featured Replies

My wife's note 2 has jelly bean 4.1.2 in it and her wifi connects at 65 mbps and then in a few minutes drops to around 20mbps and slower.

I have a note 10.1 with 4.1.1 and no problems with wifi speed.

Anyone else having note 2 wifi problems.

thanks

How are you measuring the speed? Is this a new "issue"? Can you describe the WiFi infrastructure? Is the device stationary?

What kernel is on the N2? On the N10.1?

Without a lot more detail I might guess that the N2's baseband/kernel adjusts WiFi as part of a power-saving scheme.

I have changed the power saving option in the service menu as suggested on the xda forum. The sammobile site says its a samsung issue with 4.1.2. The speed is showing in wifi setup.

I was transferring some files and was so slow on the 2 compared to the 10.1. I don't have the 2 with me at the moment for the info you want.

Sammobile says there is a small update on the way to fix the problem.

I just wondering if other note2 users were having the same problem after the latest update.

How are you measuring the stated speeds (65 Mbps, 20 Mbps)? Or are these "Link Speeds"? (They are weird if link speeds which usually run in increments of 3/6/12 Mbps)

I assume you have your own WiFi AP?

Link speeds will vary based on signal/power; distance from the AP, walls, interference, etc.

What application are you using to transfer files?
