HANGU, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least 22 people were confirmed dead after a suicide bomber targeted a mosque in northern Pakistan, local media reported on Friday.

The attack took place on Friday outside a mosque in Pat Bazaar in Hangu, located in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as worshippers exited the mosque following their prayers. In addition to the fatal victims, reports said that dozens of others were also injured.

Sunni and Shiite Muslims populate the region, as both groups have clashed on several occasions. The suicide blast killed both Sunnis and Shittes with several shops operated by both groups in the bazaar.

No group or terrorist organization has claimed responsibility of the attack.
