Happy Air

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience with this airline?

Never heard of them.

According to their website they only fly to Roi Et and Ranong.

Maybe they should rebrand themselves to "Happy Ending".

I live in Ranong, and I've only ever heard the occasional jet. Happy Air use Saab 340s. That doesn't mean they don't fly here, but it makes me wonder.

Almost 2 years ago they flew from Phuket to Haad Yai, lasted about 6 months only. I wish someone would start this service again.

It had previously been operated by Poo-Air and Nok, at various times, seems it is hard to make money on that route. sad.png

Same with Business Air , up until last night never heard of them, they own 5 Aircraft !

You have to book with them the old fashioned way. No Booking Online.

THAI actually ran the HDY-HKT route about ten years ago, with an intermediate stop in Trang. I flew it once from Hat Yai to Trang and was the only passenger de-planing there, much to the bafflement of everybody else on the plane continuing on to Phuket. laugh.png

I went from BKK to Ranong (and back) last week on Happy Air. Indeed they use Saab 340's, likely the same very rough looking one for that trip. As far as I know they started with 3 trips/week and now are flying once daily to Ranong. Departure was delayed 30 min from BKK, and plane was late by 15 min. on return trip. As mentioned, the plane(s?) is very old and rough around the edges. Generally it was ok, but nothing special. Both trips had totally full planes, about 90% expats, very few locals.

Not sure if it is worth using (cost was 5600 round trip) compared to flying to Surat Thani and taking a car back to Ranong although it does cut about 2 hours from the trip should you go that circuitous route.
