Visa Extension For A Double-Entry Visa

Featured Replies

Hi! I'm a US citizen and I have a double-entry visa. I have a few questions and need confirmation about a few things.

1. Is it possible to use a visa extension service or can I hire someone to go to immigration to get my 30-day extension? Or, if married, can one spouse go on behalf of the other?

2. How many days prior to the expiration of the first stamp should I obtain the first 30-day extension? Mine says 12 March 2013.

3. In order to have gotten the double-entry to begin with, I had to purchase an international flight ticket in order to show onward travel. So, I will use this ticket when I have to go out after the first 90 days. I need to obtain a re-entry visa for when I leave after 90 days, correct?

Thank you very much in advance.

1. You apply in person.

2. About a week.

3. You don't need a Re Entry Permit as you have a valid Visa for entry.

You must apply in person (although some agencies will be able to do it for you, for a price). You can aply early, up to 30 days early even.

No, with a double entry you do not need a re-entry permit. But make sure your visa is still valid for the second entry. (Check the use before date on the visa itself.

1. You need to do the extension in person.

2. Within the last 30 days of your current permission to stay.

3. If you use the ticket to leave after your first 90 days you will be given 60 days upon re-entry. If you want to leave and re-enter during that 60 days you need to purchase a re-entry permit. The 60 days can be extended for 30 and if you want to leave during your extension you must have a re-entry permit. Single, 1000 baht, multiple, 3800 baht.

Both entries must be made before/on the "must use by" date on the VISA.

1. Extensions must be made in person.

2. During the last 30 days, going early does not mean you loose days, the extension starts from when your permission to stay ends.

3. No, re-entry permits are for keeping your permission/extension alive, you will receive a new permission of stay for 60 days.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

@ Mario2008 - The enter before date is 7 July 2013 and I am going out 6 April 2013, so I think I have got the dates coordinated correctly, right? Also, do you know the names of the visa service agencies as I have been unable to find any via Google.

Also, does anyone have any feedback about one spouse being able to apply on behalf of the other?

Thanks!

Your expiration date is fine.

Your wife cannot do the extension for you.

Dependent on where you are located you can do the extension yourself in less than an hour at immigration. You only need a copy of your passport photo page, visa, entry/ permit to stays stamps and TM6 departure card. A completed TM7 application form with attached photo. You can download the form here http://immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=download in document or PDF formats.
