I have a multi-entry Non-immigrant O Retirement visa that will soon end. I obtained this in my home country. An extension is not possible, nor is a 1-year stamp. Not for any nefarious reasons. Believe me: I will require a new visa.

Is it possible to get the same visa without having to return to my home country? Money, criminality, medical are not obstacles: I would just like to avoid an unnecessary return home.

Thx.

Such visa would by O-A if actually retirement and are only issued in home/country you reside so no you can not obtain locally unless living in a local country. And if you have a multi entry non immigrant O-A visa you would get a one year stay on any entry made during the time it was valid so now past expiration date?

If you don`t want to leave, and you are over 50 (i presume) ..just get a NEW 3 month non O VISA from immigration ( for the purpose of extension based on retirement there after )

then get your money or pension papers sorted out to meet the 800.000 bhat....

if you want get a multi re-entry permit on the extension when it is issued if you want to travel in and out more than once to keep your extension live....

or you can buy a multi or single re-entry as you reqiure it..

He needs financials in Thailand to obtain a visa from immigration and can not do so without a new entry as he has such a visa entry already. For some reason, he does not want to expand on, he says he can not extend.

Think the OP needs to come back with more details about why he says he cannot get these things. If indeed he cannot then a long trip back home is required.

I think OP does have a multiple entry non-o visa (90 day entry) he got for retirement from a friendly consulate. Hull does them if you can show the money.

There was a recent report by a member that got one in Penang by showing he had 800K baht in the bank.

The only reason I can see for anybody eligible for a retirement extension and has the money in the bank or income is if they are working on a rotation and cannot always be in Thailand for their annual extensions.

Or possibly is not aware that a multiple re-entry permit can be obtained for an extension of stay.

Thanks all ... more detail, then ...

I have been told by immigration that my current visa is finished because I received a stamp of the sort that allowed me to remain in Thailand until one year past the "Enter Before" date (which was a year past the "Date of Issue").

Seems you had an O-A visa which has expired.

You have two options:

1. you apply for an extension of stay

2. you go abroad (a neighbouring country will be fine) and get a new visa. In the neighbourhood it will be a single non-O, good for 90 days.

Since money is no problem, you should apply for a 1 year extension of stay, 1900 baht.

1. However, the money, 800000 baht, must have been in a Thai Bank in your name only for 2 months on the day that you apply (3 months for ongoing years), it can not be in your home country. 2. Or you can also use the "income affidavit" method where you get a letter from your embassy staing the amount of money that you are getting from overseas each month, it must be at least 65000 baht/month.

3. Or a combination of both so that the total equals at least 800000 baht/year. The money in the bank "usually" does not have to be seasoned if you use this method.

Criminal backgroud checks and medical certificates are not required. However, it has been reported that some offices are requiring a medical certificate.

If you want to leave and reenter Thailand during you 1 year extension you have to purchase a re-entry permit. Single 1000 baht, multiple 3800 baht. It is wise to purchase at least a sigle when you apply to cover emergencies.
