WorldwideALOHA
Are new car prices negotiable? Seems like several dealers like to throw in lots of free items (film, bumpers, bed liners, etc.), but no cash off. Anyone know if the prices are fixed (ie Toyota) or can the Sales Manager - not floor person give better rates? Thank you
MJCM
If the car is in high demand then forgot it (maybe a 1000 THB discount, but that will cost you your free film etc etc) but if it's a not so wanted car then you could try. I wish you the best of luck !!
arthurwait
If the car is under 2 million forget it.
kartman
If the car is under 2 million forget it. In the Vigo 4x4 thread one of the last posts said they got 25,000 off a under 1million model.
IMHO
Yes it's possible, but it's certainly not normal for the tier-1 brands so expect a lot of resistance to the idea and some shopping around. It's also supply and demand driven, so don't expect to get a cash discount on something with a 1-year waiting list, or something that's only just been released. You'll need to be a very good negotiator as discounts are extremely rarely used as a closing tool like they are in US and other Western countries, and some dealers may be more pliable if you're willing to take your discount as a rebate (which eases tax/accounting issues in some cases). StefanBBK
The Toyota dealership I use gives about 2-3% discount and a good bit of free stuff. In the past they also included free insurance. I hear however that has been finished, as too many customers had troubles with the insurance. Foxhound
Went to Toyota showroom few days ago, no discount, no free insurance, no free accessories or whatsoever. Car will be available in 10 working days. Sales person very friendly and polite though.
NanLaew
Buddy of mine was asking about a discount for paying cash for a new Ranger XLT. The best they could come up with was 10,000 baht off the list price of 829,000 baht which at only 1.2% is a bit of a joke.
