BANGKOK: -- A Japanese businessman was found dead at 4am this morning on the 24th floor of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bang Rak district following a leap off the 29th floor.

Police found 58-year-old Sukita, whose surname was not disclosed, lying face up in a pool of blood with a large wound to the head. Police subsequently searched Sukita’s room on the 27th floor, where he had stayed since Feb. 9. They did not discover signs of struggle but an ashtray filled with cigarette butts and a half-full bottle of sake.

Sukita reportedly came to Thailand with five friends and was scheduled to fly back today. One of his friends told police that Sukita had earlier invited a Thai woman whom he met in a pub to stay with him at his room for few days.

such a shame such waste life must be so bad to do that

Have a hard time buying this story. If a man was deeply in love with a Thai girl here ( bitter people stop sniggering) ,

and she left him I could almost see that. But a no show date with a bar girl scarcely qualifies as a suicide inducing event.

Either some really bent people show up here, or these news stories are completely wrong.

Coming from a Country with so many fit women why would he??

Madness.

You might want to reconsider how other nationalities view suicide and look at it from a different cultural viewpoint

http://www.tokyotimes.com/2012/suicide-in-japan-exceeds-30000-for-14th-year/

Suicide in Japan continues to be an alarming reality. Once again Japan registered more than 30,000 suicides committed in 2011. Suicides in the country have exceeded 30,000 for the past 13 years.

It seems this is almost an everyday event. Thailand is morphing from LOS to LOJ.

Specially today, apparently. Aussi guy jumped of a sixth floor in Surin, Thai girl dumped him.

Edit: Just got the LOJ part. Thats bad.

Its catching on,as the way to go.

another one!!??!!

If tourism was a disease,

the tourist would be quarantined!

probably guilt ridden

Alcohol - the ever present feature in all these stories.

This is such a shame. It's a very sad fact that suicide in Japan is far too common. Such a beautiful country and such lovely people it's so sad that life is wasted there far too frequently. I guess that he just did it on foreign soil. RIP.

imagine killing yourself over a "Thai women"... madness

You are so right.Imagine that

Waiting for either a crackdown on jumpers to be announced or the government to announce that Thailand is now the hub of suicide by jumping from tall buildings. Either way, they will spin it into a positive story and that it will not effect next years tourist numbers. How quaint.

"Sukita had earlier invited a Thai woman whom he met in a pub to stay with him at his room for few days." I am sure the relationship was vary deep by now - I would ask the friends a few more questions.

imagine killing yourself over a "Thai women"... madness

...any woman...stupidity

I don't want to jump to conclusions here, but I'm calling shenanigans...

:P

imagine killing yourself over a "Thai women"... madness

anything at all, unless some untreatable disease.

Probably another unsolved murder that ends up as a suicide.

Do not forget "loss of Face" is an important cultural factor in many other cultures ,particularly in Asian countries and sometimes death becomes the preferable option. None of us should be judging this poor guy even if we knew all the facts..

Think SBK brings up a good point about the number of Japanese suicides. From the article it wasn't an extended love affair or anything, he just got rejected by a woman whilst he was on vacation. I can see it as brewing for a while. Like he was despondent from life already and the trip to Thailand was the last hurrah as it were. And I know everyone wants to throw a conspiracy theory but sometime people really do just kill themselves.

Please. A hooker didn't turn up and a bloke necks himself?

I'm not buying it. Sakefide he was, probably fell off the bloody balcony.

If they build hotels with access to the sky, what can they expect?

Did anyone else notice the similarity in this story to the Aussie one ???

"They did not discover signs of struggle but an ashtray filled with cigarette butts "

And this from the report about the Aussie

"and a many cigarette butts smoked by the victim."

Must be something dodgy in those Thai cigarettes !!!!!

Umm, cigarette butts at the scene, exactly the same thing as the aussie guy. What are they infering, does smoking make you jump? No need to mention this in the media.

I dared say that the 'cigarette' inference is trying to highlight a possible stressful situation..

The friend said that before his suicide Sukita had been acting stressed when the woman did not come to his place.

Police said that stress resulting from the no-show of the woman might have precipitated the suicide, Dailynews reported.

Like it would have been difficult to meet another woman in a pub/bus stop/bar/restaurant/massage parlor/ christ the maid would have been better than topping yourself!

Thai police often smoke and drink heavily. These are the things they notice first and care about.

Actually, given that they met in a pub, she was probably involved in the sex trade. It's got to be extremely painful and bad for the ego, when you get stood up by a sex worker.
