Armed with my tyre guage he had 65psi all round instead of 29 psi, w00t.gif he went off on his way cursing the Toyota dealer but happier in a way.laugh.png

Indeed. After delivery in BKK, felt every one of those bumps on the way down to Patts. Plugged up the fancy 12v air pump = 40psi. Michelen sidewall says 44 max. Bled down to 32 psi all around, see how that is on way back up to Korat.

Thanks again thumbsup.gif

I never, ever need the 4WD to drive in the mud - even when it's really muddy, it's not required. Never use my low gears either.

But I do think the permanent 4WD improves safety on wet roads, and since we're driving on wet mountain roads quite a bit I think it's a good thing to have. Generally I think - though I can't be sure as I never drove a 2WD "fortuna" - that it improves handling in the mountains.

Interesting to see how these cars have gotten quite a bit more expensive over the last 6 years - back then I bought the top spec "exclusive" edition which remained exclusive for about 10 minutes before it was everywhere, for 1.35M baht.

I'd go for the higher spec film instead of 3M but I guess that's too late now... we used V-Cool which was expensive but really worth it, not very dark at all, blocking 100% IR and other frequencies, and keeping the car as cool as that is possible in a tropical country.

Ketherin, did you get the 2013 2WD 3L Fortuner? If so, any feedback?

To anyone who's treaded the new Toyo path lately, below is round 2 email from agent last night (Google Translate). Haven't had a reclama session yet, but would appreciate a quick review, and any other items I might shoot for. FYI, this is my first new car. Ever.

FORTUNER 3.0V A / T 2WD Navi

1,372,000 car (same as Toyo LOS website).

9,200 registration fee.

Deposits red 2000 (I assume this is for the red plates, Mrs. said we get this back later?).

1,383,200. total to pay on delivery. <deleted>! 1zgarz5.gif burp.gif

The list of extras.

First class insurance.

Act.

3M film cars around 60% to 40% full.

Rug. (Floor mats I reckon)

Insulator (Not sure yet. Rust proofing under carriage? ผ้ายาง )

Frame. (The all important license plate frame I keep reading about.)

4 door awning. (Assume those wind blocking things over the door frame tops)

3 year 100,000 kilometer warranty.

Free 6-of-term labor. (?)

Hero servuce help emergency 24.

Need to remember that English manual too, note to self. Did get a spec sheet attachment with above, naturally in Thai.

Thanks, regards,

J

I got exactly the same deal as above, was quite ok with it and i didnt wanted to get a car from BKK as i live near Pattaya myself.

Ordered and got the car delivered within 14 days. Got the white pearl color but even considered to go with a black one as well, it doesnt look that bad on a Fortuner.

Check you are getting 1st class insurance most Toyota dealers were not giving when vehicle over 1ml. Also why rust proof all the vehicles are sealed at factory if it rust's in 10 years I'd be surprised.

I ve have a 1st class insurance with the 2WD 3.0 ''topmodel'', paid 26k for it

Was thinking around 30k so your post was useful, thanks. We are coming from Korat > BKK to pick up the truck so for me, it's worth a few coins extra for them to do all the admin bits in advance so we can just drive off the lot and be on our way. Will do rate shopping next year when the time comes though. thumbsup.gif

Not quite as a car wash is included...

Sent from my GT-N7000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I get that black sticky stuff recoated under my car every 6 months + car wash for 300 baht at a shell garage. Initial coating was 2000 baht. Electric buff polish is +300 baht extra. Sometimes I get that. I've done that for the last 10 years for my civic, + just started it for my suzuki. Keeps the surface rust at bay.

3 yrs warranty is standard, so no "freebie" there. Insurance is the same. In the end, you do not get much for buying from them...

See what you might ask more in accessories here: http://www.toyota.co.th/en/product-detail.php?model=fortuner&opt=accessories&se=21

Ask also for a waiver of the registration free.

Thanks very much for the look, and the link.

Do you know if the under carriage anti-rust is already applied or something you need to ask for. Seem to recall reading on here somewhere it's an extra but don't remember where/if I saw that.

In general it is an extra... And part of the negotiation. It requires thereafter a visit every three months to make sure the anti-rust is ok (about 700 THB each time).

Hardly necessary on any modern vehicle I would think...as the frame/carriage is bathed in an electro-galvanic solution at the factory. Just another useless add-on they try to sell unaware buyers.

I've got 10+ year old Toyota sportrider and Honda CRV and neither has any underside rust problems.

That Black Stuff helps keep interior noise down remarkably well.

I cannot understand why folk stick a chrome thing on the fuel cap cover, it looks daft. sad.png

Who needs 4WD. You Tube.Oilfield Dodge 1920

Under normal circumstance's 2 wheel is ok I have had 4x4 on both my Toyota's First a Vigo, 4x4 came in handy several time's, used to go to M/C meeting's and they were always held on farm land without 4x4 would have had to walk through all the crap.

My Fortuner is a 4x4 didn't have a choice as the model I got only came in 4x4 that saved me many problem's in BKK during the floods as the Frontage road's were flooded and covered in slime 2 wheel cars were sliding all over the place saved me load's of time being able to use them to get around traffic.

Would agree though under normal conditions not needed by this it Thailand and you never know what's around the next corner.
